Job Description:

We are looking for a Product Manager who is passionate about solving meaningful health challenges, uncovering customer needs, and shaping future-forward health offerings. Reporting to the Director, Health Product Development, the Product Manager, Health Product and Innovation will play an important role in supporting the strategic development, innovation, launch, and management of health products across Sun Life.   

What will you do? 

Opportunity Discovery & Product Concepting 

  • Identify, evaluate, and prioritize new health product opportunities using customer insights, market analysis, and business value assessment. 

  • Develop business cases and early product concepts based on desirability, feasibility, viability, and alignment with Sun Life’s health strategy. 

  • Evaluate build/buy/partner pathways and support partner assessments. 

  • Ensure customer insights and market learnings (including the needs of plan members, employers, and provider stakeholders) are embedded in product strategy and decision-making. 

Proof-of-Concept Execution & Learning 

  • Plan and execute proof-of-concept tests or product strategies, including governance preparation, stakeholder alignment, measurement planning, and cross-functional coordination. 

  • Define hypotheses, learning plans, and success measures for product concepts to inform decisions on validation, iteration, or scale. 

Stakeholder & Partner Relationship Management 

  • Build and maintain productive working relationships across Sun Life, including Business Partners, Legal, Risk, Operations, Technology, to support evaluation and execution of health product concepts. 

  • Collaborate with external stakeholders and potential partners involved in concept development or proof-of-concept. 

Strategy & Roadmap Contribution 

  • Contribute to the health product and partnership strategy and roadmap by bringing forward insights, analysis, and recommendations based on discovery work, customer feedback, market dynamics, and proof-of-concept outcomes. 

  • Help identify future opportunities for growth, differentiation, and innovation across Sun Life’s health portfolio. 

What do you need to succeed? 

  • 3+ years of Product Management experience in digital products, ideally in health, wellness, insurance, or adjacent regulated industries. 

  • Experience shaping early-stage product concepts, business cases, proofs-of-concept, or experimentation frameworks. 

  • Experience collaborating with cross-functional teams and external partners in a matrixed or enterprise environment. 

  • Experience working within governance-driven organizations or environments with multiple stakeholder groups. 

  • Relevant education or training (e.g., health sciences, business, product management, innovation, or related fields) is considered an asset. 

  • Ability to interpret insights from research, analytics, and customer feedback to inform product direction. 

  • Strong structured problem-solving skills and the ability to simplify complex challenges. 

  • Ability to define hypotheses, success metrics, and measurement frameworks that guide proof-of-concept activities. 

  • Excellent communication, relationship-building, and influencing skills to drive alignment across functions. 

  • Ability to navigate governance processes and coordinate approvals across multiple stakeholder groups. 

  • Ability to evaluate partners and external solutions as part of build/buy/partner recommendations. 

  • Customer-first, evidence-driven, and curious. 

  • Comfortable with ambiguity and energized by shaping 0→1 product opportunities. 

  • Thriving in collaborative environments and contributing positively to team culture. 

  • Motivated by improving health outcomes and creating meaningful impact for Canadians. 

  • As this position is posted in several locations, we specify that bilingualism (French, English, both oral and written) is required for Quebec only for the frequent interactions with English and French-speaking colleagues or internal partners across Canada or worldwide

The Base Pay range is for the primary location for which the job is posted. It may vary depending on the work location of the successful candidate or other factors. In addition to Base Pay, eligible Sun Life employees participate in various incentive plans, payment under which is discretionary and subject to individual and company performance. Certain sales focused roles have sales incentive plans based on individual or group sales results.
