Your role and work environment 

The Chief Operations Officer (COO) domain builds bridges within ING linking to almost every part of the bank. Its purpose is to drive secure, efficient processes for our customers and colleagues.

ING wants to set up a bank-wide COO organisation that's ready for the future, with scalable, seamless, digital, and resilient operations. To help us achieve this, COO identified three main ways to make the most impact:

  • Building a network organisation: more networking and cross-border collaboration.

  • Consolidating the organisation: share capabilities and services in locations where we can best embed these.

  • Digitalisation/straight-through processing: making our processes end-to-end to provide a seamlessly digital experience for our customers.

Global COO Finance is an independent unit within ING’s COO domain, reporting hierarchically into ING’s Chief Financial Officer and functionally into ING’s Chief Operations Officer. 

Global COO Finance (COOF) is accountable for designing the global finance operations and technology strategy (together with ING’s TECH organisation) and optimising productivity and customer satisfaction in Operations to improve operational efficiency. It is accountable for executing ING Finance and COO strategy to evolve towards one global digital bank, is responsible for performance of Operations, the operating model, decisions on sourcing and all relevant regulatory and Risk topics. 

Job overview

As Product Lead for Planning & Forecasting, you drive complex, cross‑domain change to enable the global finance business advice user community with technology that supports planning and forecasting of financial and non-financial performance measures.

You develop new capabilities on our global performance management system, own the functional and technical roadmap and coordinating change delivery across Finance, Tech and Operations. You oversee the onboarding of local entities on our global system with focus on business value, standardization and scalability. 

You lead a multidisciplinary team of business analysts and engineers and you coordinate delivery across squads with people in the Netherlands, ING Hubs, and India—managing cross‑country dependencies, technical design alignment, and execution discipline in a highly complex environment. You will also be the hierarchical manager of all other business analysts working for Tribe Finance Business advice in ING Hubs across all products.

You empower your people to excel in a technically demanding domain and foster a culture of transparency, structured problem‑solving, and continuous improvement.

You work closely with stakeholders at head office and in countries from the finance business advice domain to align on business requirements, architecture decisions, standardization of processes, resolve structural impediments, and secure timely delivery of new product capabilities. You report to the Tribe Lead Finance Business Advice and play a key role in evolving ING’s future‑proof global performance management system.


The Tribe Finance Business Advice focuses on delivery of all change initiatives and operations, maintenance and support of globally used IT systems. The squads within the tribe are grouped into three products:  

  • Management Accounting: This product focuses on providing and supporting tooling for the combination and enrichment of financial ledger, risk and other data to make it suitable for management reporting by FBA teams within ING. The tooling will also provide calculations such as cost/capital allocations and creation of KPIs to enable valuable performance management at entity, product and customer segments. This product covers the support and change management on one global application (EPM Cloud).

  • Planning & Forecasting: This product focuses on providing and supporting tooling for financial planning and the creation of forecasts. The tooling (EPM Cloud) will support FBA teams within ING with the creation of unbiased future forecasts by using data trends based on actual figures, business drivers or with the help of AI. It will also support the processing of dynamic plans and rolling forecasts and data delivery as input for management reports. This product also supports the replacement of local tools used for management accounting, planning and forecasting.

  • Management Information: This product focuses on the setup of BI tooling for internal reporting purposes or for data analysis by FBA teams or other users within ING. This product will model and structure data and provides standardized dashboards, governed self-service reporting and an analytics environment needed for management reporting at the granularity level required.

Risk Management - Take ownership on risk management and follow the appropriate procedures to assess and mitigate financial risk and non-financial risk while operating business processes, in order to protect the organization from undue risks.

Business planning – Contribute to the development of annual business plans for your department, ensuring alignment with strategy. Propose business targets and schedule key activities/projects to deliver performance targets. 

Data driven products and Service improvements - Develop data-driven analyses to surface new opportunities to differentiate and improve products and user experiences, ensuring consistency across products and services.

Horizon scanning - Explore and develop a detailed understanding of external developments or emerging issues and contribute to the evaluation of their potential impact on, or usefulness to, the organization.  Organisational capability building - Identify the team's individual development needs. Plan and implement actions, including continuing professional development to build their professional capabilities. Coach and mentor the people in your line of responsibility to support the development of the COOF talent pool.

Policies and procedures development - Help develop procedures for an area of the organization, and monitor their implementation.

Regulatory and Compliance Management - Help design and implement regulatory and compliance standards in your scope of responsibility.

Solutions Analysis - Identify and evaluate complex, expertise-led solutions against a range of criteria to find the ones that best meet business needs.

Stakeholder Engagement - Identify and manage stakeholders, finding out their needs/issues/concerns and reacting to these to support the communication of business information and decisions.

Strategy Implementation - Develop tactical plans for optimizing resources and assets being managed within your department

You have a proven track record and the following technical and behavioral skills

You hold a Masters Degree (University / Postgraduate) and have ~10 years of experience in area of expertise and relevant experience of planning and managing resources to deliver predetermined objectives (~7-8 years).
