About the Role

The Product Compliance Team Lead sits within the Global Regulatory Team, which is part of the Global Governance Team. 

The purpose of this role is to lead a team of Regulatory Specialists, lead reporting and pipeline management for the Global Regulatory Team and provide regulatory expertise for specific markets and projects.  

Key Accountabilities

Team Leader

  • Lead team of 7 Regulatory Specialists, supporting with product compliance issues or questions.  

  • Own product compliance approval processes, ensuring adherence to process.   

  • Develop and sustain training and onboarding plans for Regulatory Specialist roles and support team their career development.   

Pipeline Management

  • Collaborate with categories, brand and markets to determine project pipeline, assessing resource risks and opportunities.  

  • Manage prioritisation of approval activities.  

Reporting

  • Develop and maintain a set of key reports for team activities, determining areas for improvement, crafting action plans to deliver these improvements.   

  • Provide stakeholders with key reports to drive performance improvements.  

Regulatory Support

  • Provide regulatory expertise to Categories, Science & Technology and Margin Enhancement in support of the delivery of the Diageo Supply Chain & Procurement Strategy. 

    Provide regulatory expertise to markets and production sites if issues or challenges arise. 

Horizon Scanning

  • Lead horizon scanning for regulations impacting Diageo products for a specific region, determining risks and opportunities and delivery of action planning. 

  • Lead and influence legislation to develop and support optimum outcomes for our brands and reputation. 

Product Compliance Delivery

  • Lead the delivery of product compliance for Breakthrough Innovation projects.  

  • Find opportunities for product compliance optimisation during Integrations.  

 

Regulatory Compliance Management

  • Create and maintain regulatory position papers and guidelines.   

  • Review and maintain regulatory guidance documents, defining key requirements for all markets, collaborating with market legal & CR. 

Qualifications and Experience Required

  • Technical degree or equivalent qualification (Food Science/Science/Engineering). 

  • Proven track record of leading and delivering cross functionally across a regional, international or global environment. 

  • Self-starter with an ability to work independently and with remote and virtual teams.  

  • Ability to assess complex and ambiguous information and create clear guidance for partners. 

  • Able to effectively communicate at all levels, both verbal and written, with internal team members, external government agencies and 3rd Party vendors and customers.  

  • Proficiency in computer skills, including Microsoft Excel, Word, and PowerPoint.
