Position Overview

Navico Group is seeking a seasoned Product Compliance Engineer to lead our compliance efforts for battery systems and, over time, other power system devices. The initial focus will be on lithium-ion battery compliance, with gradual expansion to additional product categories such as chargers, power conversion devices, and digital switching systems. This transition will be supported by cross-functional teams to ensure success.

The role is part of the Product Compliance Team and focuses on ensuring that our systems meet regulatory, environmental, and safety compliance standards specific to marine, recreational vehicle, and off-highway industries.

Essential Functions:  

  • Lead and execute product compliance activities for assigned products, ensuring alignment with global market requirements.
  • Ensure conformity with international regulatory frameworks, including: CE Marking (EU), FCC (USA), ISED (Canada), UL/CSA/IEC safety standards, ABYC guidelines, and ISO marine standards.
  • Coordinate testing and certification with third-party labs and notified bodies, and certification agencies.
  • Interpret and monitor evolving international regulations, evaluating impacts on current and future products.
  • Collaborate with hardware, software, mechanical, and systems engineering teams to integrate compliance requirements throughout product development.
  • Prepare, review, and maintain product compliance documentation, including Technical Construction Files (TCFs), declarations, labeling specifications, and certification dossiers.
  • Provide regulatory guidance, documentation support, and internal training on compliance topics.
  • Participate in regulatory and internal audits.
  • Support investigations related to compliance issues, field returns, or safety concerns, contributing to corrective and preventive actions.
  • Support additional product categories as business needs evolve.

Required Qualifications:  

  • Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Electrical Engineering, Electronic Engineering, Mechanical/Mechatronics Engineering, or related field
  • 3+ years of experience in product compliance, certification, testing, or regulatory engineering
  • Familiarity with marine and/or RV regulatory environments and use cases
  • Working knowledge of regulatory frameworks
  • Knowledge of CE/EMC/RED/LVD, FCC/ISED, UL/CSA/IEC, and RoHS/REACH frameworks
  • Excellent communication and technical writing skills in English
  • Ability to work cross-functionally in a global organization

Preferred Qualifications: 

  • Experience with DNV certification or other marine-specific standards
  • Prior experience preparing Technical Construction Files (TCF’s)
  • Understanding of supply chain compliance impacts, including critical raw materials and end-of-life recycling
  • Familiarity with wireless, software-driven, or digitally networked products
  • Additional European languages

Working Conditions:

  • This position will be hybrid with 3 days a week onsite requirement
  • You will work in an office along with an engineering test lab
  • Occasional domestic or international travel may be required
