Product Area Lead Cash and Cards Services
As Product Area Lead Cash and Cards Services, you will define and drive the short- and long-term strategy for products such as Commercial Credit card, Apple Pay, Google Pay and Cash related products at ING Netherlands. You will be responsible for growing our business and improving our Customer Experience and realize this by further digitizing and enhancing our payment journeys on our channels and creating a scalable, future-proof payment landscape. In this role you are keen to deliver a set of products and digital processes that are reliable, scalable and secure but also provide the best possible customer experience for our retail and business banking customers.
Being responsible for the delivery in three Product clusters (Cash, Commercial Credit Card and Mobile Card Enrolment) and for 8 squads you lead the way to create future proof payment products. And work closely with other families and business lines (such as Wholesale Banking, Payments Centre, Omni-channels, Fraud & Cyber, and Data Management). Together with them in the payment chain you will create and execute our ambitions.
The Product Area Lead has a responsibility for both the WHAT as well as the HOW. You will directly manage three Product Leads and work together with them and their squads. In this role you will orchestrate delivery, base your decision on solid data-driven analyses, set priorities based on impact, manage dependencies and work on the strategy for Payments Products. You also have full responsibility for risk and data of the products in your area.
The squads in your area are predominantly situated in the Netherlands and are working closely with a few teams in The Philippines and India. Together with the Family lead, two other Product Area Leads and one CoE lead, you act as the Business Leadership team of the Family. Furthermore, you team up with the IT Area Lead to closely align business and IT strategy and execution.

Proven track record and skills:
- A Master’s degree ideally in Management and or Finances combines with a proven expertise in Payments, Cards or Transaction Services to ensure strategic depth and domain authority.
- 5+ years of leadership experience steering multidisciplinary teams in a high stake, regulated environment (payments, fintech or digital banking)
- Demonstrated ability to build, scale and mature product organizations, not just manage them
- Demonstrated experience in defining and executing large-scale transformational road maps (digitalization, platform integration, API first strategies, cloud migration, etc.)
- Proven ability to lead multi-year product strategies and connect them to business value, customer experience, cost optimization and regulatory compliance.
- Solid stakeholder management skills to ensure strong alignment internally and externally (interbank, suppliers and regulators)
- Advanced capability to use data-driven insights, customer analytics, and experimentation methodologies to steer prioritization and product decisions
- Deep understanding of payment products specifics is a must (incl. market scanning, end-to-end delivery, risk management, communication) additional sales or front office and operational experience is considered a strong advantage.
- Demonstrated success leading teams in scaled Agile environments with the ability to evolve the Way of Working.
- Brings strong people-management insights and capabilities, with proven ability to develop talent, foster psychological safety, coach teams toward high performance and build an empowering culture across divers and distributed teams.
- Fluent in both English and Dutch, with excellent written and verbal communication skills.
