Procurement Specialist
The Role
As a Procurement Specialist at our production site in Heist‑op‑den‑Berg, you are an essential link between our suppliers, internal stakeholders, and global procurement teams. You ensure that the right materials, under the right conditions, and at the right time, are available to support our production operations. With your knowledge of sourcing, data analysis, and contract management, you support both direct and indirect procurement processes.
Your Responsibilities
- Support strategy development and execution– Work with cross-functional teams to create strategies which both deliver quick wins and genuine innovative breakthroughs.
- Support Category & Supplier Relationship Management – Direct responsibility and accountability for multiple indirect and direct categories for regional suppliers and maintaining the direct relationship with local contacts from global suppliers.
- Sourcing – organize and directly manage strategic sourcing initiatives (RFI, RFQ, supplier negotiations) with digital sourcing tools.
- Contracting – identify requirements and objectives of the business to independently prepare and negotiate contracts with suppliers with minimal legal support.
- Supplier Development – Build relationships and manage key suppliers using proven processes to drive the realization of the full value of the key relationships.
- Stakeholder Management, Business Sponsorship, Business partnering – Work in a way that positively engages the support of stakeholders using problem solving and proactive communication skills. Build a keen insight and understanding of business requirements and satisfy business needs.
- Early, active involvement in cross-functional projects.
- Continuous Improvement – Ensure efficiency in supplier relationships and personal productivity.
- Market Knowledge, Insight and Subject Matter Expertise - Use thorough market knowledge and data analysis to gain critical insights that drive the selection of sourcing strategies and continuous improvement activities.
- Proactive Cost Management - Achieve cost control, sustainable cost reduction, and cost containment targets, and add value to area of expenditure through a strong Total Cost of Ownership (TCO) orientation and process management.
- Performance - Deliver ongoing savings as required, as well as meeting the stakeholder business requirements.
- Environment Social & Governance (ESG) - Participate in achieving the organization's ESG goals including but not limited to Supplier Diversity and Sustainability.
Your profile
- Bachelor’s degree in business, economics, supply chain, procurement, engineering or another related field of study (must).
- A solid number of years of work experience in direct procurement, or a combination of several years pharmaceutical business experience in quality, engineering, supply chain or finance with a strong interest for procurement.
- Experience in contracting, understanding legal, compliance and commercial elements
- Strong communications and influencing skills at site stakeholder level
- Comfortable with ambiguity and working in a dynamic & high-speed environment and proven ability to effectively prioritize.
- Interest, flexibility, and willingness to manage other categories, if required.
- Results oriented.
- Problem solving mindset, innovative, analytical, creative and a team player.
- You have strong market knowledge, negotiation, supplier management and project management skills.
- You are a self-starter and action oriented.
- Fluent in English and Dutch (must)
Preferred Education, Experience, and Skills
- MBA/master’s degree or another advanced degree/certification are desirable.
