We operate in two groups: The Engine Group develops air management strategies and products to optimize engines for fuel efficiency, reduced emissions and enhanced performance. BorgWarner’s expertise includes engine timing systems, boosting systems, ignition systems, air and noise management, cooling and controls. The Drivetrain Group harnesses a legacy of more than 100 years as an industry innovator in transmission and all-wheel drive technology. The group leverages this understanding of powertrain clutching technology to develop interactive control systems and strategies for all types of torque management.
 
The Procurement Manager, in this role, and under direct supervision of the Director, Supply Chain, will manage the key tasks defined below

Key Accountabilities:
- Responsible for managing “Procurement Excellence” projects within PDS Global Supply Management that require a focus on optimizing the procurement process to drive value, reduce costs, mitigate risks and align with the overall organizational objectives of BorgWarner PowerDrive Systems.

  • Lead benchmarking activities within BorgWarner focused on Procurement Excellence cross-BU.
  • Focus on enhancements to existing GSM processes and in some cases developing processes that don’t exist.  Processes include but are not limited to Global Sourcing Board, Launch Management and Cost Estimation.
  • Work with others within PDS, to maintain and enhance system tools including SPS, Ivalua, SAP and Supplier Risk Management.
  • Focused on process automation, making things easier and more efficient in GSM’s global processes.
  • Work with PDS Finance on enhancement of PDS forecasting and budgeting process improvements.
  • Proactively work with systems and tools to predict financially distress supply situations using tools such as “pressure test”.
  • When necessary, create action plans which may include going onsite to already distressed suppliers working with them to mitigate their impact on BorgWarner’s product supply.
  • Successfully manage through supplier bankruptcy situations.

- Provide training to new GSM colleagues as needed.
- Lead / execute special projects with the global GSM organization.
 

Education and Experience 

  • Bachelor Degree in Supply Chain Management/Engineering/Business Management Required
  • 8 plus years of purchasing or program management experience working in an automotive production purchasing/GSM environment
  • Certified Purchasing Manager (CPM) or Certified Professional in Supply Management (CPSM) a plus

  • Must be self-motivated/directed. Required to determine most, if not all, of own work assignments; both tactical and strategic. Requires minimal management input to achieve objectives.
