THE ROLE:
 

We’re expanding and have an exciting opportunity for a Process Safety Engineer role to join our team in Calgary, AB. Reporting to the Manager, Process Safety & Improvement, you will be responsible for coordinating and executing the implementation of various process safety strategic intervention plans and activities towards establishing an integrated, sustainable, and robust Process Safety Management System in accordance with statutory requirements and established company policies and guidelines, whilst supporting business delivery and striving operational excellence. Travel to our operations in Fort St. John, BC will be required.

HOW YOU WILL CONTRIBUTE:

  • Coordinate, facilitate and execute the implementation of process safety elements strategies and improvement plans throughout all phases of assets lifecycle
  • Monitor and analyze Process Safety Performance Indicators (PSPI) to identify common gaps and develop/propose intervention plans for improvement
  • Implement the Hazard & Effect Management Process (HEMP) of hazard identification, risk assessment and identification of risk control through established HEMP process, e.g. HAZID, HAZOP, SCE Management and MOC including full operationalization of the HEMP Reports/Safety Case
  • Monitoring of daily operational status (operations and maintenance) as well as asset integrity and reliability to identify potential process safety issues
  • Lead or participate in incident investigations and able to provide technical advice and steer, using the correct incident investigation methodology e.g. 5-WHYs, RCA, IncidentXP and ABR
  • Proactively ensures continuous compliance with the Process Safety governance and requirement, and provide guidance where needed
  • Monitor and facilitate closure of all PS action items from recommendations on process safety related incidents, assurances, PSPI analysis, HSE Lesson Learned and HSE Alerts
  • Promote and execute Process Safety campaigns to inculcate and encourage process safety culture in the organization

WHAT YOU BRING:

  • Minimum 10 years’ technical experience in Oil and Gas industry
  • Degree in Bachelor of Engineering (Chemical, or suitable engineering and sciences)
  • Experience in Process Engineering & Design or Process Safety
  • Advantage will be given to candidates with field experience
  • Experience/able to facilitate HAZOP, Bowtie or RCA tools is preferred
  • Strong organizational and time management skills, with the ability to work under pressure, multi-task while maintaining a high level of accuracy and attention to detail
  • Willing to learn and adapt to changes is a plus point
