The Transport Subsystem R&D team at Lumentum International (Thailand) is seeking a motivated and technically capable Process Engineer to support projects related to the assembly process of optical components. This role focuses on process development, execution, and improvement of thin film deposition and surface modification processes within an R&D environment.
Key Responsibilities:
Develop and characterize thin film deposition and surface modification processes for optical component assembly
Execute manufacturing and laboratory processes using surface treatment equipment, spin coaters, and other surface modification equipment in accordance with defined procedures
Follow established process instructions and ensure repeatable, and controlled execution
Collect, analyze, and document process and experimental data with proper traceability
Identify process issues, support root cause analysis, and propose improvement actions
Participate in continuous improvement activities to enhance process performance, yield, and stability
Prepare technical summaries and presentations to communicate results to the project team
Collaborate with cross-functional and cross-site teams (including R&D, NPI, and Operations) to support process development and product readiness
Support product development teams as requested, including preparation of standard documents for design and business reviews (e.g., PFMEA, cycle time analysis, failure analysis)
Develop and maintain technical documentation, including work instructions, standard work, visual aids, and provide training to NPI and Operations team members
Required Qualifications:
Bachelor’s degree in one of the following fields, or a related discipline:
Materials Engineering
Polymer Engineering
Chemical Engineering
Basic knowledge of materials processing, thin films, or surface modification techniques
Ability to work in a laboratory or pilot manufacturing environment
Strong attention to detail and ability to follow technical instructions
Required Skills & Competencies:
Ability to execute processes accurately and consistently
Capability to collect, organize, and analyze data systematically
Basic problem-solving and analytical skills
Good written and verbal communication skills
Ability to work independently as well as in a cross-functional R&D team
Preferred Qualifications:
Experience with spin coating, thin film deposition, or surface treatment processes
Familiarity with process optimization or Design of Experiments (DOE)
Proactive mindset with an interest in identifying and implementing process improvements
