IDEXX Netherlands is recruiting a Process Engineer to support the European Instrument Service & Logistics (EU ISOL) organization. This role contributes to the reliability, compliance, and continuous improvement of diagnostic instrument service operations, supporting refurbishment, repair, and service processes across the service center.
The Process Engineer supports diagnostic instrument service operations through the application of established engineering principles, standard practices, and continuous improvement methodologies. The role focuses on process support, data analysis, and incremental improvement within a defined scope, operating under the guidance of more experienced engineers.
The Process Engineer works cross-functionally with service technicians, automation, maintenance, and quality teams to help maintain safe, compliant, and efficient service processes while continuously developing technical expertise and professional capability.
In this Role You Will:
Process & Service Support
Support service and refurbishment processes for diagnostic instruments by applying standard engineering methods, documented procedures, and work instructions.
Analyze service data, quality trends, and process performance to identify clear and actionable improvement opportunities.
Participate in root cause investigations and corrective actions for recurring service or quality issues under appropriate guidance.
Review, interpret, and support the implementation of Technical Service Bulletins (TSBs).
Continuous Improvement
Apply Lean, Six Sigma, and basic Statistical Process Control (SPC) tools to improve process consistency, efficiency, and quality within assigned areas.
Contribute to continuous improvement initiatives aligned with service cost, quality, safety, and turnaround time objectives.
Support documentation, standardization, and implementation of approved improvements to ensure sustainability and compliance.
Equipment, Tools & Automation
Support the qualification, validation, and implementation of service tools, fixtures, and equipment using established verification and validation procedures.
Ensure service tools and fixtures are maintained and calibrated according to defined schedules.
Support the setup, maintenance, and configuration of service stations, service PCs, IVLS, and IPU systems.
Manage ESD-related requirements, including clothing availability and compliance.
Create purchase orders for departmental supplies and support inventory management activities.
Collaborate with maintenance teams to understand equipment functionality, controls, and standard operating conditions.
Escalate complex technical, equipment, or process issues to senior engineers as appropriate.
Quality & Compliance
Perform all activities in compliance with ISO, GMP, and internal quality system requirements.
Support the maintenance of SOPs, work instructions, and controlled process documentation.
Assist with audit preparation, execution, and follow-up actions within the assigned scope.
Perform quality inspections on finished goods in accordance with established criteria.
Collaboration & Communication
Establish and maintain effective working relationships within the service center and the broader engineering function across ISOL locations.
Communicate clearly and professionally with technicians, engineers, and supervisors in one-on-one or small group settings.
Represent the engineering function on problem-solving or continuous improvement teams as requested.
Project Participation
Lead or support small-scale engineering projects with clearly defined scope, objectives, and timelines.
Manage assigned tasks to completion with appropriate guidance and oversight.
Balance multiple priorities while aligning daily activities with departmental and organizational objectives.
What You Will Need to Succeed:
Bachelor’s degree in engineering (Mechanical, Electrical, Industrial, Manufacturing, or related discipline), or equivalent practical experience.
Minimum of 8 years of relevant experience in engineering, manufacturing, service, or regulated technical environments.
Experience in regulated industries (medical devices, diagnostics, life sciences) is preferred but not required.
Foundational knowledge of Lean, Six Sigma, SPC, and structured problem-solving methodologies.
Ability to read, interpret, and apply technical documentation, SOPs, and engineering standards.
Strong written and verbal communication skills suitable for professional and technical audiences.
Proficiency with Microsoft Office applications (Excel, Word, PowerPoint).
Familiarity with statistical analysis tools (e.g., JMP) and ERP systems (e.g., SAP) is advantageous.
Capability to use AI‑enabled tools (e.g., copilots, automation, or analytics) to improve efficiency, quality, or decision‑making in everyday work.
