As we continue to grow as QuidelOrtho, we are seeking a Privacy Lead, Americas to join our team, who will be responsible for implementing and managing the Global Privacy Program across the Americas, ensuring full compliance with U.S., Canadian, and Latin American data protection regulations.

Your new role:

In this role, you will lead the execution of QuidelOrtho’s Global Privacy Program throughout the Americas region. You will serve as the regional privacy authority, advising leadership and cross-functional teams, managing regulatory obligations, overseeing risk assessments, and acting as or supervising appointed Data Protection Officers (DPOs), where required. You will play a strategic role in protecting personal data, strengthening privacy governance, and ensuring regulatory readiness across the region.

What you'll be doing in your new role:

  • Act as or oversee appointed DPOs in the region, ensuring fulfillment of statutory obligations.

  • Execute the Global Privacy Program across the Americas in alignment with applicable legal and regulatory requirements.

  • Serve as the regional subject matter expert, advising Legal, HR, IT, Compliance, and business teams on privacy matters.

  • Oversee regional Records of Processing Activities (RoPA), Data Protection Impact Assessments (DPIAs), vendor due diligence, and privacy risk assessments.

  • Provide privacy guidance regarding HIPAA and other U.S. healthcare and medical device regulatory requirements.

  • Monitor privacy laws across the U.S., Canada, and Latin America; brief leadership on emerging developments and prepare for compliance readiness.

  • Deliver regional privacy training, awareness, and communications programs.

  • Represent the company with regulators, auditors, and industry associations.

  • Lead and manage regional privacy staff and/or external consultants, including performance management, workload allocation.

  • Perform other related duties as assigned.

The Individual:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Law, Compliance, Information Security, or related field (Master’s preferred).

  • 7 years of experience in privacy, data protection, and/or compliance.

  • Deep knowledge of U.S., Canadian, and Latin American privacy laws and frameworks.

  • Demonstrated ability to manage complex risks and advise senior leadership.

  • Strong interpersonal, communication, and leadership skills.

  • Experience with DPIAs, vendor reviews, and regulatory engagement.

  • Fluency in English; and Spanish or Portuguese preferred.

  • Willingness to travel up to 20%.

  • An equivalent combination of education, training, and relevant experience may be considered.

  • CIPP/US, CIPP/C, CIPM, or equivalent certifications.

  • Familiarity with ISO 27701, ISO 42001, NIST frameworks.

  • Life sciences, healthcare, or medical device experience.

  • Project/change management expertise.
