Position Overview
We're seeking a P4 Principal Designer to lead the future of manufacturing through Autodesk Fusion, our industry-leading design and make platform. You'll apply strategic thinking, user-centered design, and systems-level insight to create solutions that support a broad range of users and real-world design challenges, working cross-functionally with global teams to deliver thoughtful, data-informed, and responsible AI-powered experiences.
As a P4 Principal Designer leading organization-wide design initiatives, establishing new design patterns and standards, coordinating complex cross-functional efforts, serving as a strategic design authority, and actively developing team capabilities through mentorship and process evolution.
Responsibilities
Design & Research
Apply inclusive, human-centered design practices to generate deep user insights
Translate research and strategy into effective, accessible, and scalable design solutions
Design and iterate on wireframes, prototypes, and high-fidelity UIs using Figma with expert proficiency
Plan and conduct user research and usability testing independently
Use systems-level thinking to address complex, multi-layered design challenges
Establish new design patterns and concepts that can be adopted across teams
Deploy information architecture strategies for complex projects, ensuring organizational understanding of IA principles
Collaborate with product managers, engineers, and designers using tools such as Jira and Confluence
Leverage qualitative and quantitative data to guide design decisions and track impact
Generate possible outcomes by exploring emerging patterns and reframing opportunities through strategic design thinking
Ideate novel interactive concepts that push the boundaries of design software
Lead cross-functional problem-solving efforts using a holistic approach to clarify patterns, cycles, dependencies, and relationships
Minimum Qualifications
7to 12 years of experience in UX, interaction, or product design
Proven experience designing user-centered digital products or platforms at scale
Expert proficiency in Figma and contemporary design tools
Strong research and synthesis skills grounded in empathy and critical thinking
Clear and confident communication, facilitation, and presentation abilities that build credibility across diverse stakeholders
Experience working independently and collaboratively in hybrid or distributed environments
Demonstrated project leadership and peer support or mentorship
Bachelor's degree in design, HCI, or related field, or equivalent practical experience
Preferred Qualifications
Familiarity with AI/ML-powered product experiences and using product knowledge to inform workflow designs
Background in 3D environments such as media and entertainment, architecture, rendering, or mechanical engineering
Passion for CAD, 3D visualization, or technical design software
Comfort with ambiguity and evolving requirements in large-scale environments
