Principal Test Engineer - Product Development
About the Role
As a Principal Test Engineer in our Product Development team, you will be responsible for architecting, developing, and implementing cost-effective methods for testing and troubleshooting systems and equipment throughout all phases of product development and manufacturing. Working with minimal guidance, you will lead strategic test initiatives, develop innovative diagnostic programs, and design advanced test fixtures and equipment while establishing specifications and procedures for new products.
You will independently direct labor, schedules, and equipment requirements for testing and evaluating both standard and complex devices, while providing technical leadership and mentoring to other engineers across the organization. Your expertise will drive continuous improvement in test methodologies and influence decisions across multiple product lines.
Key Responsibilities
- Test Strategy Architecture: Lead the development of comprehensive test strategies across multiple product lines, driving innovation while ensuring optimal coverage and cost-effectiveness for complex semiconductor products.
- Advanced Diagnostic Solutions: Architect and implement sophisticated diagnostic testing frameworks that effectively identify complex performance issues throughout various product development phases.
- Complex Test Systems Design: Design and direct the development of advanced test fixtures and equipment for challenging applications, including optimization for manufacturing efficiency.
- Standard Development and Implementation: Create and standardize test setups and procedures that establish industry benchmarks while ensuring devices comply with stringent quality and performance requirements.
- Strategic Resource Management: Direct resource planning and allocation across multiple projects, optimizing labor, schedules, and equipment utilization to achieve business objectives.
- Technical Leadership: Lead resolution of complex technical challenges in test systems throughout the development process, providing expert guidance to cross-functional teams.
- Quality System Innovation: Develop and enhance testing processes that exceed established quality standards, driving continuous improvement initiatives across the organization.
- Advanced Qualification Management: Spearhead qualification programs for critical product lines, anticipating market standards and customer requirements while developing innovative solutions.
- Complex PCB Design Leadership: Drive the architecture and oversee the manufacture of sophisticated PCBs for test platforms and evaluation systems that enable efficient product testing across diverse applications.

- Quality System Innovation: Comprehensive knowledge of quality standards with proven ability to implement and improve testing processes that exceed quality requirements and industry benchmarks.

- Complex PCB Design Leadership: Expert technical knowledge of PCB design principles with proven ability to design sophisticated boards for test platforms across complex applications.
Preferred Education and Experience
- Bachelor's or Master's degree in Electrical Engineering, Computer Engineering, or a related technical field.
- Typically requires 8+ years of relevant experience in test engineering or a related discipline.
- Experience leading technical teams and mentoring junior engineers.
