Principal Technical Architect - Client Solution Architect
Overview
Real Time Payments International (RTP) is seeking a new Technical Architect to take architectural responsibility for one or many of our live clients. The role encompasses a full life-cycle of the solutions we implement for our clients across all RTP products including new product introduction, managing architectural change and migration / upgrades to later versions of our products.
This is a senior role that will involve providing architectural leadership to the live client market stakeholders, including Customer Account Management, Regional and Global Product owners, the Engineering teams to provide quality and cost effective solutions.
Role
Technical Architects are expected to have a broad range of skills and experience and may be asked to undertake any or all of the following activities:
• Collaborates with RTP International and RTP Global resources and frontline Regional teams to develop solutions and assigns the appropriate expertise across a single or multiple live clients.
• Identifies and addresses complex issues & risks related to technical architecture and independently coordinates and designs common market wide and localised client solutions.
• Contributes to pre-sales technical discovery and for existing clients on new opportunities to validate and elaborate on the business need to enable solution design and impact analysis.
• Proactively addresses emerging technical concerns and recommends innovations to enhance the market-readiness of specific solutions.
• Key participant in the client planning and product prioritisation process
• Coordinates with Client Account Management & Delivery teams to assess customer readiness for product and solutions implementation.
• Defining and maintaining client architecture roadmaps making sure they align with RTP and Mastercard architecture and engineering policies and standards.
• Contribute to and help elaborate client technical initiatives, epics and features as part of the Agile development process.
• Producing key client documentation such as Solution Overview Documents and using these to ensure formal architectural governance is correctly applied.
• Providing detailed client solution subject matter expertise to both internal stakeholders and external customers.
• Collaborating with Product Architects to enable client localisations based on RTP products.
• Provide leadership and guidance to other team members, ensuring that their efforts are compliant with the architectural designs/principles already defined.
All About You
• Significant experience of working in a technical capacity (Professional Services or Product Development) for a commercial software product organisation or ISV (Independent Software Vendor).
• Proven experience in architecture and design.
• Proven experience in the operational and cyber resilience characteristics of high-availability systems architectures
• Able to present and communicate complex architectural issues clearly and concisely with technical and non-technical audiences from senior stakeholders to project teams.
• Excellent interpersonal skills including facilitation, negotiation, collaboration and influencing
• Understanding of the product development lifecycle from roadmap to live implementation and support
• Understanding of solution trade-offs such as cost, scope, timescale, and balance between long-term strategic and short-term pragmatic considerations
• A background in development with a comprehensive understanding of a range of technology stacks including Java and associated frameworks, Middleware such as Kafka, REST APIs, Application Servers, Database – and a thirst and ability to rapidly acquire new technology knowledge.
• Ideally, experience of the Payment Industry.
