We are looking to hire a Principal Software Product Engineer to join our IRAD and Distributed Data and Digital Delivery (D4) projects or programs.

What You Will Do:

As a Lead Product Engineer, lead deployment teams for IRAD and Distributed Data and Digital Delivery (D4) projects, translating research concepts into innovative defense solutions.

  • Collaborate with Principal Investigators, Chief Engineers, and National/International customers to align technical roadmaps with business models.
  • Drive flawless technical and schedule performance by establishing key process metrics and leveraging state-of-the-art tools.
  • Develop proposals, white papers, and Statements of Work (SOW) to support customer negotiations and Minimum Viable Products (MVPs).
  • Manage project budgets up to $750K+, ensuring compliance with Earned Value Management Systems (EVMS) and developing Estimate at Completions (EACs).
  • Execute project start-ups, including the development of Integrated Master Plans/Schedules (IMP/IMS) and performance baselines.
  • Support staffing demands and personnel development for the broader engineering organization.
  • Travel CONUS and OCONUS: Up to 25% per year

Qualifications You Must Have:

  • Typically requires a Bachelor’s degree in Science, Technology, Engineering or Mathematics AND eight (8) years of relevant engineering experience.
  • Experience leading teams (5-10 employees) through the complete software/product development lifecycle.
  • Experience collaborating with Principal Investigators or similar, to transition technology from research (IRAD) to production.
  • Experience in roles managing project budgets and metrics.
  • Experience in developing software using OOAD.
  • Able to obtain and maintain a U.S. government issued security clearance as and when required. U.S. citizenship is required, as only U.S. citizens are eligible for a security clearance.

Qualifications We Prefer:

  • Prior experience supporting Open Source and FOSS integration within D4 data pipelines.
  • Development capabilities in alignment with modern programming languages.
  • Experience in managing project budgets and ensuring compliance with EVMS, EACs, and Raytheon internal policies.
  • Experience acting as a Scrum Master or holding a Scrum Master certification.
  • Knowledge of Long Term Roadmaps for technology development.
  • Ability to support and manage projects ranging from small-scale to large-scale investment.
  • Experience engaging directly with National and International customers.
  • Strong technical writing skills for white papers and customer proposals.
  • Willingness to travel domestically or internationally as required.

This position requires a security clearance. DCSA Consolidated Adjudication Services (DCSA , an agency of the Department of Defense, handles and adjudicates the security clearance process. The salary range for this role is 118,300 USD - 224,900 USD. The salary range provided is a good faith estimate representative of all experience levels. RTX considers several factors when extending an offer, including but not limited to, the role, function and associated responsibilities, a candidate’s work experience, location, education/training, and key skills.
