As a Principal Software Engineer, you will be on a mission to develop, test, and prove compliance to the certification authorities that our products are safe, reliable, and airworthy!
We are seeking a highly skilled Principal Embedded Software Engineer to join our dynamic team. In this role, you will design, develop, and verify real-time embedded software for cutting-edge flight-critical aviation applications. Your work will shape the future of aerospace technology through innovative software solutions. As a key technical leader, you will drive software architecture creation, lead verification activities in compliance with DO-178B/C, and work in collaboration with multidisciplinary teams to ensure the delivery of high-quality, reliable software. This is an opportunity to contribute to state-of-the-art aerospace applications while mentoring and guiding other engineers in best practices.
Ideally, this will be a fully onsite role based in Windsor Locks, CT. Will consider candidates for a hybrid position (combination of onsite and remote work - weekly onsite presence will be required).
What You Will Do
Requirements Engineering, Implementation, and Verification
Translate customer requirements into actionable software requirements.
Design and implement software solutions that meet performance, safety, and reliability standards.
Conduct low-level verification activities to ensure compliance with DO-178B/C.
Review software design and code to confirm alignment with software requirements.
Generate, execute, and review test scripts and data for software verification.
Create documentation to support aerospace certification processes.
Propose enhancements to improve the cost, quality, and efficiency of software products.
Develop and execute build procedures for hardware and software integration.
Establish and maintain software configuration management and quality standards.
Mentor and train software engineers in tools, processes, and industry best practices.
Qualifications You Must Have
Typically requires a degree in Science, Technology, Engineering or Mathematics (STEM) unless prohibited by local laws/regulations and minimum 8 years prior relevant experience or an Advanced Degree in a related field and minimum 5 years of experience.
Qualifications We Prefer
Degree in Computer Engineering, Electrical Engineering, Software Engineering, or a related technical field.
Experience with aerospace or other safety-critical embedded systems.
Expertise in designing and developing embedded software architectures for real-time systems.
Hands-on experience with DO-178B/C processes, including software verification and compliance.
Proven ability to lead projects across functional teams and geographic locations.
Proficiency in software debugging, instrumentation, and performance analysis.
Programming experience in C, Assembly, and/or Python.
Familiarity with tools such as logic analyzers and other lab test equipment.
Experience with software verification testing.

The salary range for this role is 101,000 USD - 203,000 USD. The salary range provided is a good faith estimate representative of all experience levels.
