Northrop Grumman Aeronautics Systems is currently seeking a Principal or Sr. Principal Engineer - Aircraft Mechanical Subsystems Design to join our team of diverse, qualified individuals.This position is located at: Palmdale, CA, Oklahoma City, Ok, or Whiteman Air Force Base, MO.
The selected candidate will perform Subsystems design support on environmental control systems (ECS), fuel, propulsion, landing gear, flight controls, hydraulic and safety systems. The selected candidate will become part of the B-2 Subsystems Design Engineering team within the Vehicle Engineering Department with responsibilities which include:
Developing solutions to challenging problems that are thorough, imaginative, practical, and consistent with program objectives while keeping the statement of work and design requirements in focus.
Coordination and clear communication with other disciplines, customer, and suppliers during design development.
Presenting an explanation of system design issues and solutions to internal management and customer representatives.
Developing and reviewing completed models, drawings, and repairs for accuracy, clarity, and completeness.
Evaluating engineering products for conformity to standards, procedures, and specifications.
Design wiring harness and cable assembly installations for the B-2 air vehicle using SAE AS 50881 and proven commercial practices
Demonstrated experience in cable routing techniques and requirements. Should be familiar with CATIA Electrical Workbench to route cables.
Experience with wire harness design and routing principles such as EMI separation, military connectors and backshells, shielding and overbraid, splicing, minimum bend radius, chafe protection, electrical bonding, and grounding.
Basic Qualifications:
Principal Engineer: Bachelors in Science, Technology, Engineering or Math (STEM) and a minimum of 5 years of experience in Aerospace structural design OR an MS degree in STEM with 3 years of related experience OR a PhD in STEM
Senior Principal Engineer: Bachelors in Science, Technology, Engineering or Math (STEM) and a minimum of 8 years of experience in Aerospace structural design OR an MS degree in STEM with 6 years of related experience OR a PhD in STEM and 3 years of related experience
Must have a DOD Secret Clearance to start and obtain a Program Special access within a reasonable period of time, as determined by the company to meet its business needs.
Proficient in CATIA V5 (2D and 3D) R26 (or higher) and Team Center (Unified and Enterprise).
Generate 2D Drawings in accordance with normal drafting practices using ASME Y14.5 standards.
Familiar with drawing trees and indentured parts lists.
Preferred Qualifications:
5 years or more Aerospace Subsystems design experience using CATIA V5.
Experienced developing 3D CATIA Product Models, parts, and assemblies.
Experience working on Special Access Programs
Experience working on military aircraft and MRB experience
