Northrop Grumman Space Systems—Missile Defense Integration offers an excellent opportunity for a Principal Networks Engineer (Regional Level II) (26-192) to join our team of skilled and diverse professionals. Located at Schriever Space Force Base, Colorado Springs, CO, this role is essential to supporting the U.S. President, the Secretary of Defense, and combatant commanders at the strategic, regional, and operational levels.

This position does not provide relocation assistance and requires on-site work with no remote options.

Position Overview:

The Command and Control, Battle Management, and Communications (C2BMC) program is a key component of the Missile Defense System. It is a vital operational system that enables the U.S. president, the secretary of defense, and combatant commanders at strategic, regional, and operational levels to systematically plan ballistic missile defense operations, collectively monitor the battle, and dynamically control networked sensors and weapon systems to achieve global and regional mission goals. C2BMC supports layered missile defense capabilities that enable an optimized response to threats across all ranges and flight phases. It serves as a force multiplier by networking, integrating, and synchronizing autonomous sensor and weapon systems and operations globally and regionally to improve performance. C2BMC is essential for all ground and flight tests that verify and demonstrate the current and future capabilities of missile defense systems.

The Regional Level II Network Engineer is responsible for diagnosing, mitigating, and troubleshooting network connectivity issues affecting a worldwide user base. This role requires providing continuous 24x7 on-site support to C2BMC end-users and staff, ensuring that service disruptions are resolved swiftly and efficiently. Clear, accurate communication is essential; the engineer must convey status updates and maintenance information to C2BMC Watch Officers (CWOs), Leads, and other stakeholders, both on-site and by telephone.

Essential Functions:

·         Documentation plays a vital role in the position

·         Records all troubleshooting steps, drafts detailed fix proposals, and implements corrective actions upon approval

·         Collaboration is a daily requirement, involving interaction with remote C2BMC sites, Level 2 office personnel, and the C2BMC Command Center (CCC) to coordinate efforts and share knowledge

·         Demonstrates strong initiative and problem-solving skills, capable of planning, coordinating, directing, and controlling individual projects with minimal supervision·     

·         The position is typically Monday-Friday and will require being on call for a week at a time. Long days, authorized overtime, and/or evening/weekend support during system anomalies and/or test events may be required at times

·         Performs other related duties and assignments as required

Basic Qualifications:

 

Please list your current security clearance and IAT or relevant certifications on your resume, if applicable.

 

  • A Bachelor’s Degree in Computer Science, Computer Engineering, Mathematics, Physics, or a related field from an accredited university, along with 5 years of experience; or a Master’s degree in a related field with 3 years of relevant work experience; or 9 years of relevant work experience may be considered as an alternative to a degree

  • Applicants must have a current, active DoD 8140 certification at IAT Level II or higher (such as Security+ CE, CCNA-Security, CySA+, CND, etc.) at the time of application, which is required to start. The candidate is responsible for maintaining their DoD 8140 certification throughout the entire contract period

  • Applicants must have a current, active in-scope DoD-issued Secret security clearance at the time of application, which is required to start with the ability to obtain Top Secret/SCI security clearance

  • Willingness to travel 10% of the time for business needs

  • Experience with routers, switches, firewalls, Domain Name Servers (DNS), and data encryption products, including the KG-175 TACLANE system

  • Knowledge and experience with network management systems such as HP NNMi, HP Network Automation, Riverbed sec, PowerlQ, SecureCRT, Forti manager, JUNOS Space, Aria, and Apstra

  • Knowledge of NAS/SAN technologies like NetApp or GigaStor

  • Experience with monitoring, network diagnostics, and network analytics tools such as Viavi Gigaflow and Apex

  • Experience with virtualization technologies such as VMware vCenter and with monitoring virtual multi-cloud environments using Aria

  • Strong knowledge and experience with AAA services (TACACS+, Active Directory, Cisco ISE) and encryption, including the respective managers (KG-175D/F/G and GEMOne)

  • A solid understanding of the Open Systems Interconnection (OSI) model, comprehensive knowledge of the network life cycle, and expertise in network testing are required

  • Proficiency in network protocols and connectivity, including a clear grasp of TCP/UDP and routing protocols, along with advanced skills in network troubleshooting and analysis, is essential for success in this role

  • Current and active C2BMC experience

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Applicants with a current, active in-scope DoD-issued Top Secret security clearance at the time of application, with the eligibility to be read on to SCI clearance, are highly preferred

  • Previous experience and sound knowledge of the C2BMC System or Missile Defense

Primary Level Salary Range: $94,200.00 - $141,200.00

The above salary range represents a general guideline; however, Northrop Grumman considers a number of factors when determining base salary offers such as the scope and responsibilities of the position and the candidate's experience, education, skills and current market conditions.

Depending on the position, employees may be eligible for overtime, shift differential, and a discretionary bonus in addition to base pay. Annual bonuses are designed to reward individual contributions as well as allow employees to share in company results. Employees in Vice President or Director positions may be eligible for Long Term Incentives. In addition, Northrop Grumman provides a variety of benefits including health insurance coverage, life and disability insurance, savings plan, Company paid holidays and paid time off (PTO) for vacation and/or personal business.
