Northrop Grumman Mission Systems is looking for you to join our team as a Principal Test Engineer based out of McClellan, CA.
What You’ll get to Do:
The Principal Test Engineer will will support the SIDE OU (Signal Intelligence Data Exploitation Operating Unit) and be responsible for development, integration, and testing of production hardware as well as, documenting the test plan and developing the software and hardware solution necessary. Additional responsibilities include, but are not limited to, ensuring configuration control of test software and hardware, test quality, test documentation, test equipment calibration, equipment/software improvements, troubleshooting, and program meetings. Excellent verbal and written communication skills also required.
This will include the following activities:
Assist in the design, development, and implementation of testing methods and equipment including test automation.
Test planning, execution, reporting, and integration support.
Prepare detailed test reports and support formal verification of the system.
Analyze data, identify early trends, and define changes required in test equipment, test procedures, or new test requirements.
Perform data analysis against requirements and interfaces for each software build or hardware component.
Support technicians through RF troubleshooting and training
Attend program meetings to report yield issues and collaborate with engineering to develop and implement improvements and solutions
Interface with manufacturing management, test technicians, manufacturing engineers, production control, government property, assembly, system engineers, program management and program support teams etc.
Actively identify and implement opportunities for process improvement.
The successful candidate will have a working knowledge of RF theory and concepts; and a working knowledge of digital circuit design. They will have analytical skills to review requirements, test plans, and test scenarios; and the ability to effectively communicate across teams. They should be self-directed, organized, team oriented and have previous experience with MS Office tools.
Basic Qualifications for Principal Test Engineer:
Bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering, Computer Engineering or any related STEM degree with 5 years related experience; or masters degree with 3 years related experience.
Software proficiency in one or more modern programming languages such as C#, Python, Linux, C++ or Java
Experience in RF testing and or design.
Experience troubleshooting, and problem-solving skills.
Must be able to obtain and maintain a Top Secret clearance.
Must be a US Citizen.
Preferred Qualifications for Principal Test Engineer:
Working knowledge of RF theory, signal analysis, and use of test equipment (e.g., spectrum analyzers, network analyzers, signal generators)
Experience with digital circuit design and mixed-signal systems
Experience supporting production or manufacturing test environments, including high-reliability systems
Experience with data analysis tools (MATLAB, Python libraries, advanced Excel)
Background in aerospace, defense, or mission-critical systems testing
Active DoD Top Secret clearance

Primary Level Salary Range: $103,600.00 - $155,400.00The above salary range represents a general guideline; however, Northrop Grumman considers a number of factors when determining base salary offers such as the scope and responsibilities of the position and the candidate's experience, education, skills and current market conditions.Depending on the position, employees may be eligible for overtime, shift differential, and a discretionary bonus in addition to base pay. Annual bonuses are designed to reward individual contributions as well as allow employees to share in company results. Employees in Vice President or Director positions may be eligible for Long Term Incentives.
