Your role at Clorox:

This position is part of the Molding, Innovation & Design Services Team, which supports internal and external molding operations, designs proprietary equipment, oversees the project Document Management System, and develops and deploys digital tools such as digital twins, modeling and simulation, 3D printing, asset management, and reverse engineering to enable faster, right-the-first-time project delivery. The Principal Engineer is responsible for developing solutions in plastics processing, including extrusion blow molding, stretch blow molding, and injection molding, and serves as an expert with deep experience in qualifying new molds, materials, and machines, debugging process issues, and developing new tooling within the company’s manufacturing network and with external partners. In this role, the Principal Engineer will collaborate on multifunctional teams to define equipment design requirements, plan and execute equipment selection and purchase agreements, and support equipment installation and qualification, with project work requiring travel approximately 50–70% of the time depending on assignments.

In this role, you will:

  • Subject Matter Expert (SME) – available to coach and provide expert design analyses/recommendations to the larger engineering team, including in the areas of molding, tool design and fabrication, and manufacturing systems.

  • Meet with clients and design teams to determine applications and requirements.

  • Participate in project teams as a subject matter expert on plastics processing technologies.

  • Keeping abreast of the latest advancements in technology, design trends, and engineering best practices.

What we look for:

  • 8+ years of experience with plastics processing technologies.

  • Bachelor's degree in mechanical engineering or engineering technology.

  • Experience with capital projects and capital budget process

  • Good business judgment with ability to calibrate with business objectives

  • Change management experience and discipline

  • In depth knowledge of plastics processing and tooling, including injection molding, extrusion and stretch blow molding.

  • Functional knowledge of autocad, autocad inventor, or equivalent 2d and 3d design tools.

  • Creativity with a proven history of developing equipment solutions from the form and function requirements proposed by the plant and R&D.

  • Experience with lean manufacturing techniques and principles. 

  • Strong analytical and problem-solving abilities.

  • Exceptional time management and organizational skills.

  • Excellent verbal and written communication abilities.

  • Attentive to detail and critically minded.

Your starting pay will depend on job-related factors, including relevant skills, knowledge, experience and location. The applicable salary range for every role in the U.S. is based on your work location and is aligned to one of three zones according to the cost of labor in your area.

–Zone A: $106,700 - $204,900

–Zone B: $97,800 - $187,900

–Zone C: $88,900 - $170,800
