Mission
- To design, develop, and optimize gearboxes specifically for electric vehicle (EV) applications, ensuring efficiency, durability, and performance.
- Support cross-functional teams in delivering robust drivetrain systems for current and future EV platforms
Responsibilities:
- Design and develop gearbox systems specifically designed for EV drivetrains.
- Perform simulations and calculations related to gear strength, thermal behavior, and NVH.
- Conduct detailed analysis of gear materials, lubrication systems, and bearing arrangements.
- Design of proto samples & Testing/Process Fixtures
- Collaborate with motor, inverter, and vehicle integration teams to ensure system-level compatibility.
- Define and manage gearbox technical specifications and requirements.
- Perform root cause analysis and drive resolution of gearbox-related issues.
- Support DFMEA and DVP activities for gearbox systems.
- Collaborate with suppliers for gearbox components for manufacturing feasibility.
- Review and validate 3D CAD models and 2D drawings.
- Ensure gearbox designs meet regulatory and safety standards.
- Participate in design reviews, project meetings, and milestone tracking.
- Assist in cost optimization and weight reduction initiatives.
- Design of components inline with DFM requirements
- Able to apply geometric functional & annotations & validate the same by stackup analysis
- Coordinate with testing teams for endurance, noise, and efficiency evaluations.
- Analyze field data and customer feedback for continuous improvement.
- Provide technical mentorship to junior engineers and interns.
- Prepare technical reports and presentations for internal and external stakeholders.
- Participate in intellectual property development and patent reviews.
- Ensure compliance with environmental and quality standards
Education/Training
- Bachelor / Master degree in Mechanical / Automotive Engineering
- Specialized certification in transmission systems or electric mobility added advantage
Professional Experience
- Minimum 8 years of experience in gearbox design and development, preferably in the automotive or EV sector.
- Experience with gear calculation software and transmission validation processes is required.
- Good understanding of GD&T, Stackup analysis (3DCS added advantage)
Languages
- Fluency in English;
- French / German knowledge will be an added advantage
