Position Overview

Re:Build Manufacturing is seeking an experienced and visionary President to lead the creation and sustained growth of our U.S.-based battery cell manufacturing business. This executive will build the business from the ground up, establishing strategy, commercial relationships, and organizational capability to become the nation’s premier platform for scaling advanced, high-performance battery technologies.

The ideal candidate brings deep leadership experience in the battery industry, combining operational insight, technology vision, and strategic business development to build a differentiated U.S. battery business serving defense, aerospace, and other critical markets.

Reports to: COO, Re:Build Manufacturing

* Location Note:
The final manufacturing site has not yet been determined. This role will initially operate with flexibility on location; however, the selected candidate will play a key role in evaluating and selecting the eventual site and will be expected to relocate to and lead from that location once established.

Key Responsibilities

Strategic Leadership & Business Development

  • Build and lead the business from inception, including business strategy, organizational design, and capital deployment planning
  • Develop and execute a technology portfolio strategy, identifying, licensing, acquiring, and scaling differentiated next-generation cell technologies aligned to emerging market needs
  • Drive commercial strategy and customer engagement with defense primes, aerospace OEMs, and strategic partners
  • Serve as the industry-facing leader, establishing Re:Build as the preferred U.S. partner for scaling advanced battery technologies
  • Lead capital planning and deployment, ensuring investments support strong financial returns and long-term strategic capability

Commercial & Market Leadership

  • Own full P&L performance for the battery cell manufacturing business
  • Establish and maintain strategic partnerships across the battery ecosystem, including equipment suppliers, technology licensors, and research institutions
  • Lead customer qualification discussions and negotiate long-term supply agreements with key customers
  • Secure government funding (grants, OTAs, and other non-dilutive capital) to support growth and de-risk technology deployment
  • Champion domestic supply chain development, prioritizing U.S.-sourced materials and technologies

Organizational & Operational Oversight

  • Build the leadership team, including Value Stream Leader, Head of Sales, Head of Engineering, and key functional leaders
  • Establish a culture aligned with Re:Build’s principles of operational excellence, innovation, and integrity
  • Oversee manufacturing operations through the Value Stream Leader, ensuring performance across safety, quality, delivery, and cost (SQDC)
  • Build strong partnerships across the Re:Build ecosystem to leverage shared capabilities and accelerate commercialization

Technology & Innovation

  • Evaluate emerging cell technologies for strategic fit, performance advantages, and commercial viability
  • Lead due diligence on technology licensing, partnerships, and acquisition opportunities
  • Translate technology roadmaps into clear business cases that drive investment decisions and stakeholder alignment

Qualifications

Required Experience

  • Proven executive leadership experience in the battery industry, including cell development, manufacturing, or technology commercialization
  • Demonstrated success building or scaling a battery-related business, including strategic planning, capital deployment, and commercial execution
  • Strong track record of commercial leadership, including customer engagement, technology partnerships, and strategic business development
  • Deep understanding of battery cell technologies, manufacturing processes, and industry dynamics
  • Exceptional communication and leadership presence, with the ability to represent the business to customers, investors, and government stakeholders

Preferred Experience

  • Experience at a major battery cell manufacturer or its U.S. subsidiary, or in scaling battery technology companies
  • Familiarity with defense, aerospace, or other high-performance markets requiring secure supply chains
  • Background in technology licensing, M&A, or strategic partnerships within battery or advanced manufacturing sectors
  • Track record of securing government funding (grants, loans, or other non-dilutive capital)
  • Ability to operate in a fast-paced, entrepreneurial environment while maintaining operational discipline

What Success Looks Like (12–24 Months)

  • Strategic partnerships or technology licensing agreements secured with leading battery technology providers
  • Leadership team recruited and operational, including Value Stream Leader and key functional leaders
  • Multi-year supply agreements signed with defense primes, aerospace OEMs, or strategic customers
  • Non-dilutive capital secured to support facility buildout and production ramp
  • Manufacturing facility plan finalized, including site selection, equipment strategy, and capital deployment timeline
  • Technology pipeline established, with additional licensing or acquisition opportunities in development
  • Business achieving key milestones toward revenue generation and market leadership
