DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
Job Responsibilities include the following. Other duties may be assigned:
- Provides academic, proactive, and developmental advising for all prerequisite healthcare students to promote success
- Actively initiates and continues ongoing guidance to students whose grades, attendance, and/or personal factors put them academically at risk
- Acts as a resource for student(s) in matters related to academic appeals, readmission requests, grievances, etc. affecting a student’s matriculation into program.
- Communicates concerns in regard to student success to the student’s admissions advisor; the partnership site director, and the Manager of Pre-Nursing Initiatives.
- Monitors progression in courses and ensures timely coordination of registration of selected courses (as determined in collaboration with Orbis Education and the University partner)
- Regularly collaborates with the academic leadership as needed to provide status report and update student plan as needed
- Works closely with the Manager of Pre-Nursing Initiatives and other team members to ensure accurate, quality communication and service
- Utilizes Progression Strength model to track student persistence
- Utilizes databases that support enrollment, progression, graduation, and career placement statistics
- Maintains an understanding of data that impacts student progression and outcomes
- Works with Manager Pre-Nursing Initiatives and the Vice President of Enrolment Management to implement & maintain tracking systems for: academic monitoring of prerequisite courses and measurement of program matriculation statistics
- Participates in day to day advising and retention operations, general administration, and special projects (including but not limited to orientation workshops, student mentorship programs, and organizing study groups) as determined in collaboration with the university partner.
- Maintains a professional working relationship with university partner(s) and demonstrates ability to adhere to boundaries as determined by leadership
- Continues to develop professionally

- General knowledge of healthcare programs and career opportunities for graduates
- Ability to maintain set office hours that include at least one evening per week, with the potential for occasional weekends
EXPERIENCE:
- Student advising and/or counseling is preferred
- Demonstrated ability to work independently and collaboratively
- Demonstrated ability to maintain confidentiality
- Experience working in a start-up environment or product launch preferred
EDUCATION AND CERTIFICATION:
- Bachelor’s degree in higher education, counseling or related field required
- Master’s Degree in higher education, counseling or related field preferred
- Experience in healthcare or a complementary field preferred
