Idaho Power (IPC) — located in vibrant Boise, Idaho — is looking for Pre-Apprentice Lineworkers. It’s an exciting time to work for Idaho Power. Our work plays a critical role in communities we serve across Idaho and Oregon, and we’re working hard to provide our customers with the safe, reliable, affordable energy they depend on.
What does a Pre-Apprentice Lineworker do for us?
Pre-Apprentices will participate in rotational assignments across IPC’s service territories, gaining hands-on experience by working alongside various crews including Demand and Projects. These assignments will involve performing construction and maintenance tasks on overhead and underground distribution and transmission lines.
Pre-Apprentices are eligible to apply for Full-Time Regular Apprentice Lineworker positions as they become available. Advancement to an Apprentice Lineworker role is contingent upon demonstrated aptitude, which will be assessed through on-the-job performance, professional attitude, and formal evaluations. Failure to demonstrate the required aptitude may result in termination of employment. Additionally, if a Pre-Apprentice does not secure an Apprentice Lineworker position within 12 months of hire, the employee may be released from the program.
In addition to the meaningful work we do, we offer work-life balance, competitive pay and benefits, an employee incentive plan, and both a 401k employer-match and a pension plan, making Idaho Power one of the best employers in the state.
