The opportunity
We are looking for a research scientist with expertise in Cybersecurity to join our Research Center in Mannheim (Germany). You will join a dynamic, motivated and creative team with a broad range of experience and competences. As part of the global Hitachi Energy Research organization, you will propose and lead cutting edge research projects to improve the security of Hitachi Energy's future products and services.
Your responsibilities
You take initiative: Propose secure system architectures and new security mechanisms for Operational Technology (OT) solutions. Develop processes for secure development and operation of critical infrastructure systems, participate in the development of standards and policies.
You collaborate: Propose, contribute to and lead research projects with our global team in Hitachi Energy Research and our business units. Advise Hitachi Energy R&D units on mitigating security threats and adopting best security practices using your deep technical expertise.
You investigate: Identify weaknesses in embedded systems and IoT/cloud infrastructure at early stage of development using conceptual analysis of requirements, architecture and design documents. Monitor the global IT and OT security landscape for relevant developments.
You communicate: Disseminate your results in scientific publications, patent applications, and technical reports.
Your background
PhD degree or Master degree with relevant industrial experience in Cyber Security, Computer Science, Electrical Engineering, Software Engineering or other relevant disciplines.
Knowledge of threat modeling, system security testing and countermeasures.
Track record designing holistic security architectures. Experience contributing to software development projects as defense (“blue”) team to collaboratively make defense-aware design decisions.
Solid understanding of cybersecurity for Operational Technology (OT) is beneficial. Relevant certifications (e.g. OSCP/OSCE, SANS/GIAC, CISSP) and/or cybersecurity experience from related domains (e.g. automotive, aerospace, medical) are an advantage.
Excellent leadership and communication skills, team player attitude, initiative, and creativity. Fluency in English, both written and spoken. German language skills or willingness to acquire them is desired.
