The postdoctoral researcher will conduct mentored public health research focused on HIV-related care, adolescent health, maternal–child health, artificial intelligence (AI), and bioinformatics. The role emphasizes generating research that contributes to meaningful improvements in health outcomes across a broad range of populations. The position integrates scholarship, teaching, and community engagement while supporting capacity-building in public health research.
The researcher will collaborate with faculty in the College of Nursing and the College of Engineering and participate in professional development workshops, writing retreats, and grant development activities. The postdoctoral researcher position is a one-year, full-time appointment in residence at Prairie View A&M University. The university retains the option to renew the appointment for a second year based on performance, research progress, and availability of funding. The maximum term is two years.
This position is funded by a grant or restricted funds. Continued employment is contingent upon the availability and renewal of grant funding.
The salary is determined in accordance with the University’s compensation structure and will be commensurate with the candidates’ education and experience, within the assigned salary range for this position.
Responsibilities:
Conduct independent and collaborative research addressing reproductive health topics among adolescents and young adults.
Engage in community-informed research approaches and interdisciplinary collaboration to design and evaluate nursing and public health interventions.
Disseminate research findings through peer-reviewed publications, conference presentations, and professional or public forums.
Teach one course in the home discipline during one semester and co-teach a course in the College of Engineering in a subsequent semester.
Mentor undergraduate or graduate students engaged in research.
Participate in professional development workshops, writing retreats, and grant development activities. Perform other duties as assigned.
Required Education & Experience:
Earned doctorate (PhD, DrPH) in Public Health or a closely related field.
No prior experience required.
Preferred Qualifications:
Doctor of Philosophy (PhD/DrPH) in Public Health or related fields, earned within the past three years.
Research interests in reproductive health, HIV prevention or care, adolescent health, maternal–child health, AI, or bioinformatics.
Evidence of scholarly productivity (e.g., publications, presentations).
Demonstrated commitment to improving health outcomes across varied populations.
