The Translational Genomics and Proteomics Center at Genentech Research and Early Development integrates innovative genomic, proteomic and computational approaches to advance basic understanding of human biology and disease. A position is available in the Ye laboratory for a highly committed and creative post-doctoral fellow with expertise in molecular genomics, cellular biology and advanced computation to join the Center. You will join a highly collaborative and interdisciplinary group with diverse areas and commitment to tackle challenging problems in biology and medicine and will work with on independent research projects leveraging collaborations within the group and across Genentech Research and Development. The post-doctoral fellow will develop novel molecular, cellular and computational techniques and apply them in vitro cellular and organoid and in vivo models to reveal novel biological pathways.
The Opportunity
Projects will entail a combination of unbiased discovery and hypothesis-driven research to derive causal relationships between pathways contributing to human disease.
You will be responsible for the generation of large-scale datasets, derivation of causal models and follow up mechanistic investigations of novel findings.
You will be responsible for the development and training of deep-learning models to learn embedded representations from high-dimensional data with state-of-the-art predictive power.
You will work at the interface between disciplines and leverage expertise from different research areas including proteomics, functional genomics, computational biology and human biology.
Who You Are:
Candidates must have a Ph.D. in biology, biochemistry, genetics, computational sciences, computational biology, mathematics, biostatistics or a related discipline.
Candidates should have an accomplished scientific record with impactful publications in peer-reviewed journals.
Able to lucidly present complex results, both verbally and in writing, to experts from different fields: computer scientists, computational biologists, biologists, and clinical audiences
Preferred Qualifications:
Strong computational skills to derive mechanistic insights would be advantageous.
Highly motivated and capable of independent work in a collaborative and multidisciplinary environment.
Previous experience with proteomics is not required.
