Designs, develops, and conducts scientific research studies in the areas of ultrasonically assisted manufacturing processes, microstructure characterization, and computational modeling; coordinates the development and implementation of new and/or revised research methodologies; prepares research papers and manuscripts for publication and presentation at conferences and workshops; writes project reports; coordinates the conduct of experimental tests and procedures; participates in discussions regarding the conceptualization, operation and subsequent process of projects; supervises and performs the extraction, analysis, and presentation of experimental data; evaluates research findings and assists in the reporting of results to sponsoring agencies; acts as liaison with agencies and assists in the preparation of proposal for new funding; trains, provides support, and maintains advanced manufacturing equipment; oversees undergraduate and graduate student employees, acting as supervisor and mentor; other duties as assigned. 

Required Education:

PhD in Materials Science and Engineering, Welding Engineering or related field

PhD in Materials Science and Engineering or Welding Engineering

Required Experience:

Ability to translate, adapt and apply academic and/or practical knowledge to the conduct of engineering research; knowledge of power ultrasound; mechanical engineering background in mechanical design, manufacturing and control circuit development; microstructure characterization capability with SEM and EBSD 

Desired Experience:

Knowledge and skills in mechanical engineering; Microstructure characterization skills; Computational modeling capability; Publication and proposal preparation capability; Student mentoring for junior PhD and undergraduate students
