We are seeking a highly motivated and innovative post-doc with proven record of molecular and cellular immunology expertise to pursue research at The Ohio State University in the areas of skeletal muscle atrophy & fatigue and neuroimmune dysfunction/cognitive impairment. The goal of this research project is to better understand the interplay between select viral proteins and the host immune system leading to the development of human diseases (AD, ME/CFS) using human ex-vivo models (3D BBB/NVU and mini-brain organoids), clinical samples, live cell imaging/confocal microscopy, Omics, western blot, EM, mass spectrometry and flow cytometry.
Post Doctoral Scholar designs and executes experiments of considerable scope and complexity in the assigned research lab; collects and analyzes data for research sponsored by appropriate agencies and Institutions; identifies and selects problems to be studied; develops and troubleshoots new experimental techniques and protocols; attends research seminars; contributes to manuscript preparation and supports technical writing; participates in preparation of grant applications for extramural funding; performs additional duties as assigned.
Applicants should have a PhD in Molecular Biology or Immunology and a demonstrated record of productivity. Experience in aseptic technique and tissue culture, isolation of human primary cells and in-vitro immune cell activation assays is required. Applicants should have excellent organizational, communication and written skills (English) and the ability to effectively work independently and be a team player.
