What is the opportunity?
The Capital Markets Transformation team supports RBC Capital Markets by working closely with business, functional and technology partners to enable and execute on company-wide change initiatives.
What will you do?
The Director, Program Management Office (PMO) will lead the strategic oversight, governance, and execution framework for the Business Transformation portfolio within Capital Markets. This leadership role is responsible for partnering with Technology in establishing and maintaining robust project management standards, portfolio reporting, and tracking mechanisms that enable effective delivery of regulatory and strategic initiatives across the organization.
Oversee the complete lifecycle of the Business Transformation project portfolio, ensuring alignment with Capital Markets strategic objectives and regulatory requirements
Establishing portfolio prioritization frameworks, resource allocation strategies, and governance structures that enable informed decision-making at all levels of the organization
Maintain a comprehensive view of all initiatives, identifying interdependencies, risks, and opportunities for optimization across the portfolio
Designing and implementing comprehensive reporting frameworks that provide clear visibility into project health, progress, and outcomes
Develop executive-level dashboards and detailed project tracking mechanisms that enable stakeholders to understand portfolio performance at a glance. This includes establishing key performance indicators, milestone tracking, budget monitoring, and risk reporting that supports proactive management and timely intervention when required
Serve as the primary liaison between the Business Transformation team and Capital Markets leadership, translating complex project information into clear, actionable insights This requires exceptional presentation capabilities to engage executive audiences, facilitate steering committee meetings, and present portfolio updates to diverse stakeholder groups
Responsibility for establishing and evolving PMO standards, methodologies, and best practices that drive consistency and excellence across the project portfolio. This includes developing templates, tools, and processes that enable project teams to operate efficiently while maintaining appropriate governance and control
foster a culture of continuous improvement, incorporating lessons learned and industry best practices into the PMO operating model
What do you need to succeed?
Undergraduate university degree required; MBA or relevant professional designation strongly preferred
15+ years of program management experience with a demonstrated track record of thought leadership, portfolio reporting, problem solving, and strong business communications
Project Management Professional (PMP) Certification
Strong knowledge of Capital Markets processes including financial products and services such as Derivatives, Loans, and Payment Processing
Exceptional stakeholder management skills with the ability to collaborate effectively with senior business leaders, project managers, and cross-functional teams throughout the project lifecycle
Comfort providing constructive challenge to agreed-upon business outcomes, balancing advocacy with inquiry to drive better solutions
Strong PowerPoint skills with the ability to storyboard and craft executive-level presentations that drive decision-making
Comfort operating in ambiguous environments with shifting or competing priorities
Strategic thinker with strong analytical and problem-solving capabilities
Resilient and adaptable, able to pivot quickly as business needs evolve
Exceptional communication skills, both written and verbal, with the ability to influence at all levels of the organization
