Portfolio Analytics Analyst

Position Summary

Assured Guaranty is seeking an Analyst-level analytical/actuarial/process employee in a line of insurance business that sits at the intersection of insurance, banking and investments. The individual will be a contributor to a team responsible for performing analysis related to the Company’s loss reserves and valuations for financial guaranty and life reinsurance subsidiaries. The individual will also perform regulatory and compliance tasks for actuarial and analytical reporting requirements in the Company’s various jurisdictions. The position involves frequent opportunities to work with other company functions, such as Risk Management, Surveillance, and Accounting. This role will require the ability to effectively communicate work processes and results to internal and external stakeholders.

Job Responsibilities

  • Validate, maintain and enhance Excel-based valuation models and reconciliation tools
  • Become familiar with excel macros or other programs that calculate and aggregate data that makes its way into the company’s financial statements. Leverage AI to accelerate knowledge and skill acquisition
  • Develop a deep understanding of the bond market, financial guaranty and credit analysis. Gain experience and form a skillset that will allow technical expertise to be applied to the company’s initiatives
  • Perform management control testing to ensure accuracy and compliance with Sarbanes-Oxley requirements
  • Prepare supporting material for reserves (presentations and memos) and loss experience, assist Accounting with booking and documenting reserves and valuations

Candidate Background & Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree; advanced degree or progress toward CFA and/or Actuary designation a plus
  • A proven track record of problem-solving and critical thinking
  • Strong analytical skills, with attention to detail and ability to manage multiple projects at once
  • Self-motivation combined with conscientiousness and a hunger to learn and expand responsibilities
  • Ability to work independently while also collaborating effectively across teams

Compensation

Annual base salary for the position is expected to be from $85,000 per year to $95,000 per year. The actual salary will depend on various factors, including but not limited to a candidate’s experience and credentials, salary expectations of applicable candidates, and other applicable market conditions. This position also provides applicable employee benefits, as well as eligibility for an annual discretionary bonus and long-term incentive awards.
