We have an opportunity for a Portering Lead to join their team of staff.

This is a full- time role for 37.5 hours a week. The role holder will be required to cover a flexible shift pattern.

Duties of this role include:

  • Lead the Porter team to undertake a range of general and ad hoc tasks on a day to day basis to meet the requirements of the site such as patient, equipment, and goods (e.g., pharmacy goods) movement.

  • Ensure that the hospital facilities and services are explained to patients and family members when escorting people to rooms or other hospital areas.

  • Ensure a courteous service is provided to internal and external customers.

  • Operational costs are controlled and monitored in line with departmental budgets, with emphasis on overtime and bank spend being minimised when appropriate.

  • Maintain a duty roster (to include all porter duties), to cover all shifts, while also ensuring the appropriate level of staffing is in place for the hospital demand and the tasks involved.

  • The Portering Lead will support in any portering duties between any departments as and when required.

Applicants should meet the following criteria:

  • Helpful and co-operative manner.

  • Able to carry out duties unsupervised.

  • Physically fit in order to undertake duties.

  • Set high standards and take pride in work.

  • Front line customer facing experience.

  • Previous portering experience in a healthcare, hotel or hospitality setting.

  • Previous experience of managing or leading a team.

  • UK driving license required.
