Summary of Primary Functions:   

The CNC Plasma Table Operator is responsible for setting up, operating, and maintaining CNC plasma cutting equipment to accurately cut metal parts according to specifications. This role requires attention to detail, mechanical aptitude, and the ability to read and interpret technical drawings while ensuring safety, quality, and production efficiency.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Set up and operate CNC plasma cutting tables to cut various parts from a variety of plates
  • Load and unload materials onto the plasma table using cranes, forklifts, or manual methods
  • Read and interpret blueprints, CAD drawings, and work orders
  • Program, edit, and adjust CNC plasma cutting parameters as required
  • Perform test cuts and make adjustments to ensure accuracy and quality
  • Monitor machine operation and make real-time adjustments to optimize performance
  • Inspect finished parts for dimensional accuracy and quality standards
  • Perform routine maintenance, cleaning, and troubleshooting of plasma equipment
  • Maintain a clean and safe work environment in compliance with safety regulations
  • Record production data, material usage, and job completion details
  • Collaborate with production, form maintenance, and welding teams to meet production goals

Machines, Tools, and Equipment Used:  May include one or more of the following:  T-Slab Machine, Automated Bar Bender, Robotic Welder, CNC Machine, Plasma Table or Automated Forming Machine.

Job Specifications or Qualifications

  • High school diploma or GED required; technical training preferred
  • Previous experience operating CNC plasma cutting equipment preferred
  • Ability to read blueprints and technical drawings
  • Basic understanding of CNC programming and G-code
  • Strong mechanical aptitude and problem-solving skills
  • Ability to use measuring tools (tape measures, calipers, squares)
  • Knowledge of metal types and cutting processes
  • Ability to lift up to 50 lbs and stand for extended periods

Education and/or Experience:  High school diploma or general education degree (GED); or one to three months related experience or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience.
