Job Title: Supervisor – Devonport Project
Location: Devonport Royal Dockyard
Reporting to Project Manager – Devonport Project

The Supervisor for the Devonport Project is responsible for supporting the day-to-day operations of the onsite batching plant, ensuring the safe and efficient production and delivery of nuclear-grade concrete. Working under the direction of the Project Manager, the Supervisor oversees frontline plant activities, and ensures compliance with health, safety, and quality standards. The role focuses on operational execution, team supervision, and maintaining plant performance to meet customer and contractual requirements.

  • Operations Supervision: Monitor and direct daily plant activities, including concrete production and distribution. Ensure safe, efficient, and compliant operations.
  • Team Leadership: Supervise and promoting teamwork, safety, and high performance. Provide guidance, training, and support to staff.
  • Health & Safety: Enforce health and safety procedures, ensuring a zero-harm environment. Actively promote safe working practices in line with the Health & Safety at Work Act 1974 and company policy.
  • Quality Control: Check that all concrete produced meets required standards and customer expectations. Report and escalate any quality issues to the Project Manager.
  • Client & Customer Support: Assist in maintaining positive client relationships by ensuring smooth operations and addressing day-to-day concerns.
  • Risk & Maintenance Support: Identify and report operational risks or equipment issues. Support proactive maintenance schedules and contingency plans to minimize downtime.
  • Operational Records: Ensure accurate completion of plant logs, downtime records, waste tracking, and daily diaries. Provide timely updates to the Project Manager.
  • Cost & Performance Awareness: Work within budgetary guidelines, supporting cost-effective operations and contributing to performance targets.

Key Accountabilities

  • Health & Safety: Maintain a safe working environment and ensure compliance with all safety standards.
  • Quality Assurance: Support the delivery of high-quality concrete with zero non-conformance reports (NCRs).
  • Operational Efficiency: Ensure plant activities are carried out effectively, minimizing downtime and waste.
  • Customer Satisfaction: Contribute to meeting contractual obligations and maintaining strong client relationships.

Education/Qualification

  • Relevant technical or vocational qualification desirable.
  • Supervisory or team leadership experience preferred.

  • Professional Competence: Knowledge of cement, aggregates, RMC, and building products.
  • Commitment & Engagement: Demonstrate strong work ethic and alignment with company values.
  • Customer Orientation: Support customer needs and maintain service quality.
  • Performance Management: Drive efficiency, cost discipline, and resource optimization.
