Job Description:

Airbus Americas, Inc is looking for a Plant Performance Manager to join our team based in Kinston, NC.

Responsible for the management and governance of performance indicators and routines in Kinston Plan. You will be defining, implementing and developing a robust performance review system in line with Airbus Operating System (AOS) in order to deliver on time, on cost and on quality. You will serve as the lead for the Kinston Plant strategy and integration of KPIs. This leadership position is directing Performance Management across all Kinston Plant CDT areas and will be responsible for leading the Plant strategy for the program's performance system. You will ensure the integration of KPIs and KPRs, and establish, maintain and communicate priorities, status and plan for the Site performance with all stakeholders to optimize operational output. This role will implement and drive a systematic methodology that drives the achievement of critical targets and fosters a culture of continuous improvement.

The Airbus Aerosystems Kinston facility sits at the forefront of aerospace manufacturing, specializing in the production of large, advanced composite aerostructures. Our team builds critical components for the state-of-the-art Airbus A350 XWB, including the composite center fuselage and wing spar.

Your Challenges:

  • Performance Manager owns the Site performance governance process and ensures proper drumbeat of agreed Key Performance Indicators in line with site objectives and strategy and thorough follow-up and tracking of continuous improvement plans and alerts Senior Leadership members and functional leaders (Plant General Manager, Senior Directors and Directors) when action plans are not diligently delivered.

  • Represent and deputize Head of AOS and Performance Management in Airbus steering committees at all levels, reporting the Plant Balance Score Card and KPI performance status.

  • Set up and drive Performance management governance and steering at all levels (with Senior Leadership Teams), securing impact of performance routines, identifying KPI trends and supporting PDCA and recovery plans, as well as risk management.

  • Drive the end-to-end deployment of new KPIs and performance dashboards across all management levels (L1, L2, L3, L4, L5), ensuring seamless integration and adoption.

  • Establish a robust performance governance framework and routine, complete with clear Terms of Reference, to facilitate effective performance review and accountability.

  • Oversee the delivery of comprehensive visual performance management dashboards tailored for daily, weekly, and monthly reviews at each management level.

  • Improve business efficiency and results achievement by advising plant stakeholders at senior manager level on business priorities and how to make the most of the standards, methods and associated behaviors.

  • Continuous analysis of the actual station/ value stream performance. Restore performance to the standards through the PDCA process. 

  • Support  workshops on dedicated topics in complex situations or for training purposes (vision, Hoshin Kanri, macro VSM, kaizen, etc.)

  • Identify areas of improvement and lead Hoshin & optimization projects for the Performance Management team. Acts as leader for the team to ensure all objectives are met and exceeded. 

  • Day-to-day management of the relevant Hoshin project activities to ensure the entire project is progressing in line with the baseline plan

  • Lead KPI tree implementation as well as definition and strategic alignment of the performance system, ensuring clear lineage from result KPIs to actionable Monitoring KPIs

  • Establish a single source of truth for all defined KPIs, including the development and standardization of KPI ID Cards to ensure data integrity and consistency.

Your Boarding Pass:  

  • 8-10 years experience in Performance Management and Lean/continuous improvement operations demonstrating tangible & sustainable results

  • Solid knowledge and understanding of industrialization principles,  manufacturing processes and production management.

  • Experienced in project management, including multi-functional teams and financial aspects

  • Able to demonstrate operational experience in the implementation and monitoring of industrial systems (conception phase, implementation, management of production processes)

  • Good communication skills, active listening and a proactive approach to problem solving & decision making

  • Proven coaching / training competencies, Leadership, Assertiveness to influence and challenge the status quo

  • Deep knowledge and experience of Performance Management,  AOS / lean manufacturing and lean management, problem solving, PDCA, action plan.

  • Good knowledge and experience in KPI monitoring,  industrial engineering, quality tools, problem solving,  logistics engineering and process optimization (APICS basic level, lean/Six Sigma Black Belt,  Kepner Tregoe or equivalent) 

  • Experience in leading lean manufacturing workshops such as kaizen, VSM, SMED, 5S, etc. - 

  • Experience in operations management within a best-in-class lean environment 

  • Coaching skills and experience with communication competences 

  • Ability to inspire and give meaning 

  • Aeronautical manufacturing basics 

  • Capability to design strategies for change management, coaching, mentoring and training  

  • Fluency in local language mandatory / English negotiation level

  • 10% Domestic and International

Preferred:

  • Bachelor degree in Manufacturing or Industrial Engineering preferred 

  • Lean six sigma, Master Black Belt or equivalent preferred

  • Lifting: able to occasionally lift up to 30lbs/14kg.

  • Pushing/Pulling: able to push/pull items in office areas.

  • Sitting: able to sit for extended periods of time at computer and in meetings.

  • Squatting/Kneeling: able to occasionally squat or kneel to retrieve or replace items shelved on bottom shelves.

  • Standing: able to stand for extended periods of time.

  • Travel: able to travel overseas and domestically sometimes for extended periods of time. Working outside hangers in changing locations.

  • Walking: able to walk through office and production areas, around flight line and airstrips and sometimes on uneven indoor and/or outdoor surfaces.
