This position works in the production plant and provides day to day technical support as needed within the assigned unit (SiC Plant and/or HPE-1).  The Engineer is the equipment owner for the plant and should serve as the technical expert within the plant.  Serves as a liaison between Site Engineering, external service and equipment vendors, and operations and maintenance/facilities for capital projects.  Takes on Engineering ownership for engineering PSM responsibilities in the given area of responsibility.  Identifies and executes improvement projects for the plant as assigned to promote cost savings and to improve the Overall Equipment Effectiveness. Implements measures for further development within defined production area to maintain and ensure state of the art process technology in order to minimize cost, provide high product quality, and to maximize plant availability. Assists in the transfer of new production technology and products from R&D and the Business Line where needed as it applies to technical changes.  Develops new plant recipe in the DCS and work instructions when implementing new processes/equipment and initiates modifications to existing work instructions where applicable. Supports and possibly serves as a lead for safety reviews (PHAs and PSSRs).  Serves as the technical lead and provides follow up on action items as assigned.  Assigned owner of the MOC process in the assigned plant by serving as the MOC Coordinator for changes when assigned and manages changes to Process Safety Information (i.e. specs, technical drawings, P&IDs, PFDs, etc.). Works with the Engineering Team, Plant Management and Maintenance Supervision to ensure compliance and consistency in the assigned area.

RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Responsible for providing plant support related to process troubleshooting, new product introductions, process safety management systems, CAPEX, and OEE. This includes acting as project manager or project responsible for plant related projects, both large and small up to $500,000 value.

  • Position has full technical responsibility for the care and condition of plants in cooperation with operations. Assures the defined technical availability of the production plants according to the production requirements, and in conformance to changing requirements in respect to economics, safety and care for the environment.

  • Works with other departments such including site engineering, external engineering contractors, and maintenance to plan and secure the resources necessary to execute process trials and projects.

  • Uses experienced engineering judgment, creativity and foresight to initiate studies, projects and new developments and to anticipate and solve unprecedented problems with a focus on long term technical solutions especially for the utilities on site that are crucial for the continuous operations.

  • Provides plant specific technical expertise in the areas of process engineering on equipment innovations and on state-of-the-art process and project techniques, insuring regulatory compliance of the technical installations, maintenance practices and the technical documentation.



REQUIREMENTS

  • Minimum of Bachelors in Chemical Engineering or similar field required
  • Minimum of 3-5 years of chemical manufacturing plant required
  • Ability to understand and operate a personal computer and associated software systems. (i.e. Microsoft Office Suite, SAP, Emerson Delta-V, Aspen PIMS, etc.)
  • Ability to manage time and determine priorities to meet job requirements.
  • Ability to maintain good communication of job responsibility status and priorities.
  • Ability to maintain effective working relationships with other employees
  • Experienced in managing projects either as Project Manager or Project Responsible
  • Knowledgeable with codes and other Engineering standards
