Description:

Holy Cross Health is seeking a skilled and safety-conscious Pipefitter to join our Engineering Department. This role is responsible for installing, assembling, maintaining, and repairing piping systems that support hospital infrastructure, including steam, water, gas, and medical gas systems. The Pipefitter plays a vital role in ensuring the safe and efficient operation of our healthcare facilities.

What you will do:

  • Install and maintain piping systems for heating, cooling, steam, water, and medical gases.

  • Read and interpret blueprints, schematics, and technical drawings.

  • Cut, thread, and hammer pipes to specifications using tools such as saws, cutting torches, and pipe threaders.

  • Inspect and test installed systems for leaks and proper functionality.

  • Collaborate with engineering and maintenance staff to ensure timely project completion.

  • Ensure compliance with local, state, and federal codes and safety regulations.

  • Respond to emergency maintenance requests.

  • Maintain accurate records of work performed and materials used.

Education and Experience:

  • High school diploma or GED required; technical or vocational training preferred.

  • Minimum of 3 years of experience as a pipefitter in a commercial or healthcare setting.

  • Knowledge of medical gas systems and hospital infrastructure is a plus.

  • Ability to read and interpret blueprints and technical documents.

  • Strong understanding of safety protocols and building codes.

  • Physical ability to lift heavy materials and work in confined spaces.

  • Excellent problem-solving skills and attention to detail. ​

Preferred Certifications

  • Journeyman Pipefitter License (State of Florida)

  • Medical Gas Installer Certification (preferred)

  • OSHA 10 or 30 Certification


Working Conditions:

  • Work is performed in an office environment within the hospital’s engineering department.

  • Frequent use of radio and telephone communication.

  • May require occasional walking or visits to various hospital areas.

  • Must be available for rotating shifts, including weekends and holidays, as needed.
