As a Physical Therapist, you will create a healing atmosphere that enhances the Cleveland Clinic treatment experience. You will assist in providing highly specialized treatment for bones, joints, muscles and tendons specifically designed for the unique needs and health backgrounds of your patients. In many cases, these patients are dealing with pain, so remaining sensitive and compassionate is important in helping them regain their health. Ultimately, your efforts can provide the initial drive and support they need to continue forward in their healing journey. We welcome applications from new graduates who have completed an Acute Care clinical rotation at a Cleveland Clinic facility. Ideal candidates will have 1–2 years of inpatient experience.
A PRN caregiver works 9:00 AM–5:30 PM on weekends for at least two weekend shifts per month and must be willing to stay later as needed to assist same-day post-surgery patients.
A caregiver who excels in this role will:
Evaluate and conduct prescribed physical therapy treatment programs.
Perform initial and ongoing assessments of patients’ conditions.
Establish, revise and evaluate plans of care while involving the patient and/or their family.
Perform therapy interventions.
Supervise activities of Physical Therapy Assistants, students and other caregivers.
Minimum qualifications for the ideal future caregiver include:
Bachelor’s Degree or Certificate
Current state licensure as a Physical Therapist (PT)
Current Basic Life Support (BLS) Certification through the American Heart Association (AHA) or American Red Cross
Preferred qualifications for the ideal future caregiver include:
Experience in a clinical area
Physical Requirements:
Ability to walk and climb stairs without assistive device and to maintain balance despite sudden load in order to support patient from falling.
Ability to meet physical demands characterized at the heavy level defined by 1993 Leonard Matheson and Ministry of Labor.
Ability to lift and reach with arms sufficiently to lift patient's arm and leg during therapeutic treatment program.
Sensation of touch and manual dexterity to be able to palpate muscle tension or to monitor patient pulse.
Visual acuity to observe patient's gross and fine motor movements in order to analyze these movements and to read all patient monitors.
Ability to speak clearly enough to instruct patients and families.
Ability to hear at a conversational level to understand patient's description of symptoms and response to treatment.
Personal Protective Equipment:
Follows standard precautions using personal protective equipment as required.
