Role Description
- Operational Risk Management (ORM) sits within the Chief Risk Office (CRO) function, which has Group-wide responsibility for the management and control of all credit, market, operational, enterprise and liquidity risk and has the responsibility of continual development of methods for risk measurement, frameworks and creating a bank wide strong risk culture.
- The purpose of Operational Risk Management (ORM) is to ensure that the Bank's Non-Financial Risk exposure is adequately managed in line with the group-wide risk appetite and OR framework. As an AVP in OR Physical Disruption, you will contribute to this mission by supporting the implementation and ongoing management of the ORM framework within this critical risk cluster. This role involves active participation in monitoring, assessment, and reporting activities, collaborating closely with various internal stakeholders (e.g. Business Divisions, Global Corporate Security) to reinforce the Bank's resilience against physical disruption risks.

Your key responsibilities
- Operational Risk Framework & Control Management: Support the implementation and adherence to ORM policies, minimum control standards, and the overall ORM Framework for Physical Disruption. This includes participating in controls oversight, risk assessments, RTC framework adherence, and contributing to third-party oversight processes and physical security approval workflows.
- Risk Appetite and Scenario Analysis: Contribute to the definition, monitoring, and reporting of Physical Disruption Group Risk Appetite and related metrics. Facilitate execution of Group Structured scenario analyses and participate in the development of risk appetite metrics.
- Reporting and Data Management: Prepare and support the quarterly reporting process for Group and divisional operating conditions related to Physical Disruption Risk. This involves preparing RCSA granularity data and assisting with the implementation of exposure-based taxonomies.
- Stakeholder Engagement and Collaboration: Foster strong working relationships and collaborate effectively with various internal stakeholders, including business divisions (IB, CB), Global Corporate Security, Health and Safety, Building Engineering structures, and other ORM Clusters.
- Advisory and Challenge Support: Provide analytical support and insights to the Head of Physical Disruption to inform decisions regarding ORM Framework implementation, risk identification, and proposed key controls. Serve as a working-level point of contact for policy and audit-related matters concerning Physical Disruption Risk.
Your skills and experience
The ideal candidate will have:
- Minimum of 5 years’ experience in a similar role within financial services.
- A robust understanding of Operational Risk Management principles and practices.
- Significant experience in a business, risk management or other relevant control functions, ideally at a global financial institution or other relevant peer.
- Demonstrable experience of developing strong working relationships with stakeholders to facilitate successful risk management within the 3 Lines of Defence model.
- Experience in working with Senior Stakeholders within a high-pressure dynamic environment including strong presentation skills.
- Competent using Microsoft Office – MS Excel, PowerPoint and Word including Office Automation skills (e.g. VBA Macro, Power Automate).
- Fluent in English, strong communication skills including ability to distil topics into understandable summaries with clear conclusions and explanations of rationale.
- Strong time management skills when dealing with multiple priorities.
- Experience with change projects is desirable as the candidate will play a pivotal role in a period of significant change for this function.
