Major Duties:
Qualifications: Other Duties/ Responsibilities Records and edits video to produce short-form video products. Establishes and maintains effective working relationships with co-workers, supervisors and customers. Effectively communicates with a diverse group of subjects and provides clear direction in a respectful manner. Required Work Experience Five (5) to seven (7) years of experience working as a professional photographer. Required Special Skills/ Knowledge As part of our hiring process, we may conduct a skills assessment to better understand an applicant’s proficiency in key areas relevant to the role. Knowledge of photographic principles including the framing and practices of photographic shoots. Skill in accurately assessing color, density, and contrast in photographic images with acute attention to detail. Knowledge of AP style caption writing. Skilled in batch imagery processing and metadata ingesting. Demonstrated skill with the Adobe suite and Photoshop, Photo Mechanic, and the Microsoft Office suite, on PC and Apple platforms. Communication and collaboration skills. Critical evaluation. Desired Qualifications Knowledge of and experience with mirrorless cameras, video and audio equipment and editing software (Adobe suite) to capture and produce short form video products. Solves problems in the moment, diplomatically handles challenging and sensitive situations. Remains agile and adapts to frequent schedule changes. Self-motivated with effective problem-solving skills and a high attention to detail. Familiar with the digital photo printing process. Strong preference will be given to candidates with short form video experience. Working Conditions Since this position requires onsite presence in support of the U.S. Senate when in session, this position requires the employee to be available and prepared to work during government shutdowns, in inclement weather, on holidays, and during late night, overnight, and weekend sessions. In the context of government furloughs, this position is considered excepted. This position directly supports essential services of the U.S. Senate. As such, this position requires the employee be available and prepared to work during government shutdowns, in inclement weather, on holidays, weekends, and during late nights to ensure essential services to the Senate continue without interruption. Moderate (carrying of items less than 50 pounds); work requires employee to be outdoors in a variety of weather conditions. Work requires frequent physical effort walking, bending, crawling, standing for long durations, and working on ladders, scaffolding, or stages. Working in confined spaces (bending and crawling). Schedule fluctuates and the employee is expected to work early mornings, late evenings and weekends, with little to no notice. Some traveling may be required.
