Hourly Pay Range:

$20.69 - $30.00 - The hourly pay rate offered is determined by a candidate's expertise and years of experience, among other factors.

Position Highlights:

  • Position: Phlebotomist Lead
  • Location: Swedish Hospital
  • Full Time/Part Time: Full Time
  • Hours: Monday-Friday,1:30pm-10pm, rotating weekends and holidays

What you will do:

Assigns and monitors work to ensure that laboratory customer service requests are met in an accurate, timely, and appropriate manner.

Applies skills and experience to identify problems as they arise.  Implements appropriate troubleshooting and follow through.

Can proficiently operate and utilize the Data Management functions of the LIS to address the needs of the lab service areas and their clientele.

Conducts all communication transactions in a professional and courteous manner, deferring to appropriate administrative personnel as needed.

Proficient in all aspects of specimen preparation and processing procedures.

Responsible for processing all reference lab testing and use of the associated electronic databases of the reference labs.

Coordinates the orientation and training of phlebotomy staff and students.

Is aware of and supports the Quality Assurance Program as it relates to the phlebotomy service areas, and reports possible infractions as they occur.

Proficiently performs accurate venipunctures and capillary specimen collection for all inpatients and outpatients for all age groups.

Responsible for the collection of body fluid or other samples including, nasal and throat swabs, stool, urine, semen, and breath samples.

Other functions:

Assists with inventory management duties as assigned.

What you will need:

  • Education: High school diploma or GED preferred or equivalent work experience
  • Certification: CPR-BLS certification for the Healthcare Provider required and PBT (ASCP) certification preferred
  • Experience: 2 years of Phlebotomy training experience strongly preferred
  • Unique or Preferred Skills: Good communication and organization skills, moderate computer skills needed, reliable transportation to travel between sites required, strong customer service skills.. Basic typing/keyboarding.  Ability to process esoteric testing.  Leadership, organizational and communication (verbal, written and telephone) skills and the ability to lead, work with and relate to personnel.
