PhD Thesis on Wireless Over-The-Air Computation for Aerospace Applications (d/f/m)

We at Airbus Central Research & Technology work on cutting edge technologies for future airborne and spaceborne systems. Our objective is to provide novel functionalities while simultaneously reducing the environmental footprint of Airbus products and services. You will become part of a research team whose work focuses on the development of RF over-the-air communication systems and their potential applications in the field of aerospace. Your impact will be on exploiting wireless computation to improve or enable future aerospace applications.

Your tasks and responsibilities

  • Research and development of wireless computation and communication between onboard and between external distributed systems. 

  • Exploration for aerospace applications to ensure ultra-low latency, security and privacy.

  • Experimental implementations including advanced elements such as reconfigurable intelligent surfaces

Desired skills and qualifications

  • A Master's degree in Electrical Engineering, Communications Engineering, Computer Science, Computer Engineering.

  • A background in RF technology, communication and ideally computing systems.

  • Hands-on programming experience with Python and/or C.

  • Experience with Software Defined Radios e.g. GNURadio is a plus

  • Knowledge of aerospace systems is a plus.

  • An independent, self-motivated mindset with an enthusiasm for working in a dynamic and agile research environment.
