We have an opportunity for a Pharmacy Technician to join their team of staff in the Pharmacy department.

This is a bank role working on an “as and when required” basis, you will be required to supplement staffing levels during busy periods and provide cover for existing staff in times of annual leave or absence.

Duties of this role include:

  • Work primarily in the Pharmacy department while spending considerable time on the wards, fully integrated within the multidisciplinary team to ensure comprehensive pharmacy services for patients.
  • Deliver patient-centered medicines management through daily clinical ward visits to specialised areas.
  • Conduct the Medicines Reconciliation for admitted patients, following agreed CHG and departmental guidelines. 
  • Reviewing prescriptions for accuracy and legality, addressing concerns with the pharmacist and multidisciplinary team. 
  • Ensuring prescriptions are safe, legal, accurate, and clinically appropriate, communicating guidance to the multidisciplinary team. 
  • Contribute to training Foundation Trainee pharmacists, student Pharmacy Technicians, Pharmacy Assistants and others as needed. 
  • Adhere to the Professional Standards set by the General Pharmaceutical Council. 

Applicants should meet the following criteria:

  • GPhC registered.
  • Medicines Reconciliation trained (either local or national)
  • Accredited Accuracy Checking Pharmacy Technician (ACPT) qualification
  • B-Tech in Pharmaceutical Science or equivalent
  • Previous extensive hospital experience inclusive of Clinical Pharmacy practice
  • Demonstrated experience of multi-disciplinary working at ward/clinical level and management of high-risk medicines.
  • Previous experience of educating and training other staff.
  • Computer Literacy including clear understanding of electronic prescribing systems and inventory management.
  • Knowledge of Medicines Management
  • Clinical knowledge of issues relevant to surgical patients gained through training & experience
  • Understanding of pharmacy organisational structure (local/national)
  • Understanding of the relationship of the pharmacy department to the wider multidisciplinary team
  • Good pharmaceutical knowledge
  • Certificate in Medicines Management (CMMPT or equivalent)
  • Previous experience of working specifically within Surgical setting.
  • Knowledge and understanding of clinical issues relating to practice within Surgical setting.
