This Pharmacy Intern – Inpatient, PRN supports a high-volume hospital pharmacy that fills approximately 370–450 medications per day and collaborates closely with pharmacy leadership, a team of technicians, nurses, and other support caregivers. Interns rotate through multiple operational areas including triage—managing nursing requests, inventory tasks, and medication preparation—and carousel operations, which involve inventory management, Pyxis deliveries, batching, and supporting the IV room team. In the first year of the intern program, the caregiver primarily functions in a technician capacity, gaining experience in carousel operations, Pyxis runs, repackaging, sterile and non-sterile compounding, triaging calls, and inventory management. During the second and third years, the role expands to include more clinical exposure such as medication reconciliation, patient counseling, and additional pharmacist-led clinical workflows, providing a comprehensive inpatient pharmacy learning experience within a collaborative, fast-paced environment.
This is a PRN role. A caregiver in this position will work primarily days and afternoons from 7:00am to 3:30pm or 3:30pm to 12am. Requirements include every 3rd weekend or as needed. No on call expectation. Will work full time during the summer and as able to during the school year.
