Registered Veterinary Technician

Animal Medical Center San Rafael is currently looking to hire a Registered Veterinary Technician to join our team! The ideal candidate will be a dependable, detail-oriented team player who loves pets and being part of a fun, supportive team. They will have experience with rooming patients, drawing blood, placing IV catheters, radiology, assisting in surgeries, and proper animal handling & restraint, and being a positive, inclusive and motivating team member.

• Salary: $28.00 - $35.00 per hour, depends on experience, education, licensure, and certifications. 
• Schedule: Five 8-hour shifts, Monday – Saturday.  Some weekend coverage is required.
• Location: 4140 Redwood Hwy, San Rafael, CA 94903

Who You Are:

• 1+ years clinical experience as a veterinary technician or assistant.
• Registered Veterinary Technician in the state of California, license must be active and in good standing.  Or be eligible to transfer or become licensed in California within 3 months of hire.
• A degree from an AVMA-accredited Veterinary Technology program is preferred but not required.
• Knowledge of industry tools and equipment
• Passion for working with animals and their owners
• Experience with proper animal handling and restraint
• Understand the importance of excellent communication and organizational skills
• Obtain accurate and thorough medical histories
• Perform basic exam procedures
• Skilled in venipuncture and Intravenous (IV) catheter placement (cephalic, saphenous, and jugular)
• Able to perform digital radiology (X-ray) including positioning
• Perform complete dental procedures, including digital x-rays, scaling, polishing, charting
• Ability to perform dental extractions as allowed by licensure preferred
• Comfortable with general anesthesia and surgical assisting (induction, intubation, monitoring, aseptic technique)
• Laboratory skills including microscope (ear and fecal cytology); IDEXX in-house laboratory
• Excellent client communication/education
• Adaptable to working well with current doctors and team members
