CORE JOB SUMMARY
The Resident PGY3 participates, at the University of Miami Miller School of Medicine, in structured programs to develop skills in all six of the general competencies, as outlined by the ACGME. The incumbent demonstrates basic competency by rendering patient services in an accurate and effective manner.

CORE QUALIFICATIONS
Education:
Doctorate degree Medicine (MD) required

Experience:
Minimum 2 years of relevant experience required

Certification and Licensing:

DEPARTMENT ADDENDUM

Department Specific Functions

This position is part of the University of Miami Miller School of Medicine’s Internal Medicine Residency program located at Holy Cross Hospital in Broward County. Perform thorough history and physical. Synthesize data into a problem list and differential diagnosis. Formulate diagnostic and therapeutic plan with supervision. Perform basic clinical procedures. Demonstrate caring and respectful behavior. Develop the ability to self-evaluate educational needs and performance. Incorporate relevant feedback and instruction into clinical activities. Facilitate the learning of other learners on the care team. Use technology to enhance patient care and medical education. Develop knowledge of practice and the clinical delivery system. Access appropriate resources. Identify error-prone system issues and needed improvement. Identify efficiency problems and needed improvements.

Department Specific Qualifications                                                                                     

Education:

  • All PGY3 Categorical Internal Medicine Residents must have a M.D. or D.O degree.

Certification and Licensing:

  • ECFMG certification is required for medical degrees obtained outside the United States.
  • PGY3 Categorical Internal Medicine Residents must maintain a valid training license in the State of Florida throughout the duration of the training program.
  • PGY3 Categorical Internal Medicine Residents must maintain current Basic Life Support (BLS) and Advanced Cardiovascular Life Support (ACLS) throughout the duration of the training program.

Experience:

  • All PGY3 Categorical Internal Medicine Residents must have successfully completed two years of training in an ACGME accredited Internal Medicine Residency program.
