Job Description:
Performance and Reliability Technician
Ashford - £54,075
Days - Permanent contract
Your New Role
In this role you will be responsible for ensuring the scalability, performance, and reliability of our systems and applications. You will work closely with cross-functional teams to identify and resolve bottlenecks, optimise system performance, and implement strategies to ensure
continuous availability and fault tolerance.
What you’ll be doing
Specifically, you will be responsible for the following deliverables:
Performance Analysis & Optimisation:
• Monitor, analyse, and report on system performance to ensure optimal operation.
• Identify and eliminate bottlenecks in the system to achieve high availability of parts.
• Collaborate with all stakeholders to diagnose performance issues with parts supplied and supplier quality.
• On a monthly rotation collate, communicate, and report on all system reliability paying particular attention to supplier quality.
• Collaborate with the Support Engineers on performance improvements.
Reliability Engineering:
• Design and implement strategies to ensure system reliability, including redundancy, and disaster recovery.
• Apply SRE (Site Reliability Engineering) best practices to ensure system stability.
• Create and maintain monitoring systems and dashboards for real-time tracking of system performance and availability.
• Define and automate alerting systems to detect anomalies and resolve incidents quickly.
• Proactively identify performance risks and recommend solutions to mitigate them.
• Provide technical guidance to the customer when requested and share best practices.
• Carry out fault finding activities when requested
• Support in all other Engineering activities when required
About you
• Excellent attention to detail and organisational skills, with the ability to manage multiple tasks and prioritise effectively.
• Strong communication and interpersonal skills to collaborate with stakeholders at all levels.
• Ability to work independently and as part of a team in a fast-paced and deadline-driven environment.
• Analytical mindset with problem-solving abilities and a continuous improvement mindset.
Qualifications
• HNC/D or proven equivalent railway experience with a focus on improving reliability and availability.
Behavioural
• Sound knowledge of, and compliance to, UK rolling stock rules and regulations
• Good written and verbal communication skills
• Able to represent Hitachi in a professional manner at all times
• Good team worker
Licences / Competences
• Previous experienced in monitoring and performance analysis
