People & Culture Systems and Governance Manager

About the role
 

Heidelberg Materials Australia is seeking an experienced People & Culture Systems and Governance Manager to lead the strategic and operational performance of our people systems, data governance, policy and compliance framework.
 

This role plays a critical part in ensuring our people processes are efficient, legally compliant, data‑driven and aligned to business priorities across a large, complex workforce.
 

You will lead system optimisation, strengthen people‑risk controls, enable high‑quality workforce reporting, and build capability across the organisation.
 

Key responsibilities

  • Lead data governance, privacy and compliance across all people systems

  • Ensure alignment with Australian employment legislation and internal policies

  • Provide oversight of Workday stability, releases, integrations and enhancements

  • Drive accurate, timely and meaningful workforce reporting and insights

  • Develop and maintain people policies, procedures and employment templates

  • Assess and manage people‑related risk and assurance activities

  • Partner with IT, Payroll, Finance and senior leaders on systems and governance

  • Lead, coach and develop a small specialist team
     

About you
 

You will bring strong systems and governance experience within a large corporate environment and be confident operating at senior stakeholder level.
 

You will have:

  • A degree in Human Resources, Law or a related discipline

  • Extensive experience managing HRIS / People Systems (Workday highly regarded)

  • Strong understanding of employment legislation, governance and data privacy

  • Proven experience leading system improvements and complex people processes

  • Advanced reporting, analytics and executive‑level communication skills

  • Strong stakeholder management and business partnering capability
     

Desirable:

  • Experience in industrial, construction, resources or manufacturing environments

  • Exposure to large blue‑collar workforces and complex industrial instruments

  • Experience leading investigations, assurance activities or M&A integration
