Responsible for the master production schedule for a set of low-mid complexity production lines at a site to ensure that the plan is delivered balancing production/planning parameters service, safety, stock and costs. This level of work could apply to a Material Planner on a mid-high complexity production/materials site.

JOB PURPOSE

The PC Line Scheduler is responsible for developing and maintaining detailed production schedules aligned with customer demand, material availability, and capacity plans. The role acts as a critical link between Supply Chain, Production, Procurement, and Customer Service to ensure seamless execution of the production plan while optimizing inventory, throughput, and service levels.

Scope

This role operates within the Supply Chain function, driving daily and weekly production schedules for the assigned product lines. The position acts as the central link between Supply Chain Planning, Production, Procurement, and Logistics for short- and medium-term production execution. The scheduler ensures plan adherence by balancing production capacity, manpower, and material availability, while closely monitoring constraints that could impact customer commitments.

PRINCIPAL ACCOUNTABILITIES

Production Planning & Scheduling

  • Develop and release daily and weekly production schedules based on demand forecasts, sales orders, and available capacity.
  • Align the production plan with material readiness, line capacity, and manpower allocation to ensure smooth execution.
  • Continuously review and adjust schedules based on changes in demand, supply disruptions, or quality rejections.
  • Monitor production adherence and coordinate with shop-floor teams for timely resolution of plan deviations.

Supply Chain Coordination

  • Interface with Material Planning, Procurement, and Logistics to ensure on-time availability of raw materials and packaging.
  • Maintain synchronization between production, warehouse, and dispatch teams to ensure customer OTIF targets are met.
  • Collaborate with the S&OP team to align production plans with monthly demand and inventory objectives.
  • Conduct daily/weekly scheduling meetings with cross-functional teams (Production, QA, Maintenance) to align priorities and resolve constraints.

Inventory & Capacity Management

  • Ensure production scheduling aligns with inventory norms, safety stock levels, and working capital targets.
  • Perform capacity utilization analysis to identify line bottlenecks and recommend improvements.
  • Monitor production yield, efficiency, and loss trends to feed continuous improvement actions.
  • Drive reduction in aging WIP, RM, and FG inventory through balanced planning and synchronization with demand.

Data Analytics & Systems

  • Prepare daily, weekly, and monthly MIS reports for plan adherence, line efficiency, and material shortages.
  • Support master data accuracy for planning parameters — lead time, lot size, safety stock, etc.
  • Use ERP systems (SAP) for scheduling, MRP runs, and order prioritization.
  • Apply data-driven decision-making to identify and mitigate planning risks.

Performance & Continuous Improvement

  • Track and report KPI’s such as schedule adherence, capacity utilization, and OTIF.
  • Identify and drive process improvement initiatives in planning accuracy, scheduling efficiency, and cross-functional communication.
  • Support digital and automation initiatives in production planning and scheduling processes.

QUALIFICATIONS/ KNOWLEDGE/ EXPERIENCE

(TECHNICAL/ PROFESSIONAL KNOWLEDGE & SKILLS COMPETENCY)

  • Education: Bachelor’s degree in engineering & master’s in business administration (Operations / Supply Chain / International Business) – Essential
  • Experience: Minimum 8 years of progressive experience in Production Planning / Line Scheduling / Supply Chain Planning within a manufacturing setup. – Essential
  • Core Expertise: Strong knowledge of demand planning, MRP logic, inventory control, and logistics coordination. – Essential
  • System Knowledge: Hands-on experience in SAP (PP/MM) or equivalent ERP tools, advanced Excel proficiency, Power BI, ability to analyze data and generate MIS reports – Essential
  • Technical Proficiency: Skilled in MS Office (Excel, PowerPoint, Word) Power BI, knowledge of Lean / Six Sigma / Continuous Improvement practices – Desired
  • Certifications: APICS (CPIM/CSCP) or equivalent Supply Chain certification – Preferred.
