Are you a professional in payroll systems and payroll who is motivated by meaningful work in an international university environment, enjoys diverse tasks in your daily work, and is excited about developing operations, learning new things, and solving novel situations?

We are now looking for a Payroll System Specialist for a permanent position.

In this role, you will serve as the university's payroll system expert and play a key role in the university's payroll system renewal. You will have the opportunity to utilize and grow your expertise in systems. You will work closely with HR, IT, payroll, and other stakeholders. Your typical responsibilities will include planning, implementing, and maintaining data transfers between different systems in collaboration with IT specialists, as well as participating in development work related to the renewal, maintenance, and automation of payroll processes and systems. You will be a reliable sparring partner for your colleagues in system-related matters and resolve also service-related inquiries.

The position is located with Shared HR Services unit at Aalto University, which handles payroll, provides guidance on employment-related matters and HR systems to employees and supervisors, and offers support to HR colleagues. The unit consists of about twenty experts.

Success in the role requires:

  • Experience in payroll and employment processes: You understand the laws governing employment and their impact on salaries and payroll processes. You are familiar with labor legislation, working time, annual leave laws, and payroll administration processes.

  • Experience with systems: You have worked with payroll systems and have the ability to quickly learn new systems. Knowledge of modern HR systems is considered an advantage.

  • Ability to work independently: You have experience in a similar role and can discuss and handle work-related issues autonomously. Project work experience is beneficial in this role.

  • Collaboration and communication skills: You can network and explain the benefits of changes to the organization. You are a solution-oriented and analytical team player. You are proficient in Finnish and English as working languages, both written and spoken.

The salary for the position is determined according to the university salary system in use at Aalto University and depends on the education, expertise, and experience of the selected candidate.
